More retro reading fun for those who love to relive them days:
This week we take a look at issue 169 of CVG which came out in December of 1995. We originally released this issue all the way back in 2009, and after a ton of work being done on it recently, this issue is looking better than ever before.
This is the second Computer and Video Games issue in the capable hands of Paul Davies.
This issue we see Tom Guise, Ed Lomas and Jaime Smith join the magazine and you will soon start to witness how they take CVG to a whole new level.
The preview articles that we've selected are: reviews of Twisted Metal, Viewpoint and Worms on the PSone front. And a review for Super Skidmarks on the Mega Drive.
Interested then read here --> http://www.outofprintarchive.com/cat...VG/CVG169.html

Fans of retro systems will love this look back at a great mag of old:
This week turn back the clock 26 years to July of 1991 to see issue 10 of Mean Machines on the store shelves. This issue has gone through an extended restoration process to make sure it looks as brilliant as it did the day it was brought home. We start of with a forgotten and highly underrated arcade gem that got ported to the Mega Drive: Wardner no Mori. Then we look at a shoot 'em up from one of the greatest developers the genre has ever seen: Zero Wing by Toaplan. Furthermore we have the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Mega Drive by Sega's own Sonic Team.
And finally we delve into some good old 8-bit classics with GG Shinobi for the Game Gear and Shadow Warrior for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Its been a while, taken me a lot longer to refocus my efforts towards DCEmu, but this site is my spiritual internet home, anyway enough of the talk, DCEmu is going to be radically changed and condensed, the first site that im working on is Console News which is one of my oldest sites, Console News will now incorporate all the hosted sites news and other sites like console history, all those sites will be redirected to Console News.
Keep an eye on http://console-news.dcemu.co.uk/ and the forum at http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/for...ole-News-Forum to see the first of many changes at DCEmu.

It's been a long time since Atari was a dominant force in video games. The company rarely makes an impression on the industry these days, but there's no questioning the impact it had on the medium's formative years. Soon, players will be able to relive its glory days from the 1970s and 80sthrough the Atari Vault, a collection of 100 retro games available via Steam. It's being developed by Code Mystics and will feature titles such asAsteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, Tempest and Warlords. They won't be simple ports though, thanks to the addition of online and local multiplayer, Steam controller support and Steam leaderboards.
There's no word yet on pricing, but it'll launch sometime this Spring. If you've been yearning to play some Atari classics, or want to brush up on your video game history, this could be an easy and legal way to do so.

Ben goes beyond retro gaming machines with the "Atari Video Music," uncovering customized microchips, replacing aged parts and braving the hazards of ungrounded metal. Can Ben repair this once groovy analogue music visualizer or is it going to be left to woodworms and rust? Watch now and you might even discover what it tastes like. Join the Ben Heck Show team with exclusive content, project builds and suggest more retro hardware that Ben and co' can hack apart on the element14 community.

Let’s take a look at video games’ favourite scene from the Star Wars series: the battle of Hoth. Developers have been trying for over 30 years to get it right.
Which is your favourite?
This story originally appeared on Kotaku US in May 2010.
1982: The Atari 2600 presents The Empire Strikes Back with the abstract-painting level of technology gamers were stuck with back then.
1985: Atari’s follow-up to the 1983 Star Wars Arcade Game, The Empire Strikes Back, used vector graphics to recreate the epic battle.
1992: The Empire Strikes Back for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Hoth’s looking good here. Impressive snow-speeder turning radius.
