Massive article and great news from Lik Sang
Now you have heard that one epic tale before probably, of a SEGA console that just refuses to lie buried after production ceased years ago. The Dreamcast has been resurrected to be the host for another 2D shooter more times than any other so-called "dead" system ever (apart maybe for the Neo Geo and its endless suite of King of Fighters remakes and Metal Slug episodes). Fans of the last SEGA manufactured platform can rejoice once more, as Milestone throws a spell on the still fresh dirt upon the grave of the swirl-logoed machine and beckons it to crawl to the job once more. Far from being the standard brainless Zombie now, the Dreamcast is still very much "thinking", as the original ad campaign upon it's initial introduction to the Japanese market promised. See, this is no cheap souped-up cash-in of a game we are talking about today, Milestone followed up good on their fine Dreamcast shooter Chaos Field and will release Radilgy (aka. Rajirugi) in about two weeks from now.
In our age of sequels and mainstream hits, it's refreshing to see the retro-regarded 2D scrolling shooter genre so well interpreted in a brandnew game. Radilgy simply delivers on all accounts. Being a straight port of the NAOMI based Arcade original, it shines with relentless action, easy-to-grasp gameplay mechanics and crisp, adorable cel-shaded visuals. Grab your sword, ignite your vulcan cannon and steer your mecha into pure projectile mayhem. A game to relive what it means to truly be "in the zone".

(News Submission by Deniska)
Long overdue, but finally here! :-)
It took me a bit longer that I planned: I lost the previous version's source code due to computer crash and had to re-do it from scratch, but I think it's worth it ;-)... anyway:
Rise Of The Triad PSP v0.9
This is a PSP adoptation of Rise Of The Triad, 1st person shooter, originally developed by 3drealms/Apogee.
Special thanks to people @ http://icculus.org/rott/, who developed the SDL/linux version of the game.
Please read the attached documents for credits and other information.
If you are unfamiliar with the game please read this great article:
http://rott.classicgaming.gamespy.com/hell/
INSTALLATION
--------
- select between the shareware and full versions (shareware game files are included;
you can purchase the full version from www.3drealms.com)
1.5 users: copy contents of 1.5 folder to ms:/PSP/GAME
1.0 use EBOOT.PBP from 1.0 folder with data files from 1.5 folder (make sure your include .rott directory)
2.0 Please let me know if either version works with the latest eboot loader for 2.0 firmware
If you own the full version of the game use the EBOOTs from the "full" directory with the DARK WAR data files.
CONTROLS
----------------
Due to ovious PSP limitations, some game functions are not mapped in the default key configuration. If you don't like the control layout/functions - you can re-assign them in the controls menu.
GAME PLAY
-----------
THIS IS STILL A BETA VERSION! So it may be a bit unstable. Refer to original documentation for details on game play. Network/multiplayer modes are not supported in this release, but you should be able to use some multiplayer levels in "exploration" mode.
There are seems to be a problem displaying the cut-scenes in the begining of the levels in the full version. So if you see a black screen, just hit space/enter a few times to go through it faster.
TODO
----
MUSIC SUPPORT
NETWORK/MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT - hmm, this may take a while
I'll release the source code once I patch major bugs.
Enjoy,

WHATS NEW
-------
- added music support via timidity (read installation instructions below)
- overclocked the CPU to 333Mhz - the game seems to run smoother
INSTALLATION
--------
- select between the shareware and full versions (shareware game files are included;
you can purchase the full version from www.3drealms.com)
1.5 users: copy contents of 1.5 folder to ms:/PSP/GAME

MUSIC SUPPORT
------------
If you want music support, make sure to copy timidity.cfg & instruments folder in to ms:/PSP/GAME/rott
The compact (no thrills) timidity version is provided in shareware 1.5 folder.
If you want quality music, download http://www.libsdl.org/projects/mixer...imidity.tar.gz
and copy timidity.cfg & instruments direcory from there.
The downside: the full version is large (~17MB) and is going to
pause the game for ~10 sec every time music changes. If you have time, you may want to experiment
with sounds and create a custom midi mapping for the game...
CONTROLS

Major article from Lik Sang:
The long-awaited "Second Edition" of the Korean Linux handheld game system and "personal entertainment player" GP2X is now in stock and shipping within 24h. The units shipping from Lik Sang are no longer part of the "First Edition" bunch. Next to the main system we are stocking all five official accessories including the hot GP2X TV-Out Cable and compatible SanDisk Secure Digital (SD) flash cards. All pre-orders are being dispatched while you are reading these lines and new orders are welcome for immediate shipping. All GP2X systems are tested inside walls at Lik-Sang.com before being expedited. Only fully functional units are leaving our logistics center.
Please note that the GP2X AC Adapter is multivolt (100V - 240V, 50/60Hz) and therefore works worldwide. It comes with a European standard power cord, if you want to use it outside of Europe you simply have to use a power cord from another device (such as a PS1 or PS2 console, FM radio or an electric shaver).
For all you new GP2X owners out there, we have also taken the time to write a summary of the happenings around the GP2X and available homebrew software since the release of its First Edition last Christmas. The First Edition was the first production run that was supposed to ship solely to Korea in small quantities only, but made it through various channels and smaller resellers through out the complete planet. Due to the quality (manufacturing and firmware-wise), Lik Sang decided not to sell the First Edition units until a more stable version is available.
Please make sure to use all files mentioned in this article at your own risk. Most of the games, applications, utilities and other freeware are provided "as is" by the authors that created them. Be careful also when updating your system's firmware with the official files from Gamepark Holdings, as reports of bricking (damaging beyond repair) of handhelds have been made by some users installing these.
TV-Out Feature in High Resolution
Play games, videos, music, view photos and read E-Books also on the big screen! GP2X's TV-Out function uses the high-quality S-Video standard via the official TV-Out cable. Resolution can go up to 720x480 according to scene insider Guyfawkes' GP2X guide (PDF file, more info on this guide further below). With officially released firmware versions 1.2.1 and 1.2.0, Gamepark Holdings enabled TV-Out play of games in 480x720 resolution. For comprehensive info on firmware and download links, please see the respective chapter below. There is also an official TV-Out utility (which needs at least firmware 1.1.0 to be installed first) and can be downloaded here. We expect some nice applications for the TV-Out feature from the scene in the near future.

News from Lik Sang:
Straight from the shores of Japan, in stock now we have the latest issue of the best-selling DVD videogame magazine, Famitsu Wave DVD. The first of two discs kicks off with Capcom's very artistic PS2 action title, Okami. Using hand-brushed calligraphy style graphics and based on Japanese mythology, this is truly like nothing else you've ever laid eyes on before. Then the good stuff continues with Romancing SaGa, Monster Hunter 2, Rumble Roses XX, Tengai Makyou Ziria Harkuanaru Jipang, Ace Combat Zero The Belkan War, Phantasy Star Universe and much more.
Moving onto the second disc, there's Square Enix's upcoming epic RPG for the NDS, Children of Mana, then Kimi Kiss, Sonic Riders, Siren 2, Ryuga Gotoku, Final Fantasy XI and many more! No doubt both discs are packed with the traditional Famitsu wackiness too, the type you only get from Japan. The monthly Famitsu Wave DVD consists of a high gloss magazine and an Amaray DVD box, and isn't just a magazine with a DVD attached. The March issue is in stock and shipping now, but we're also taking pre-orders for the April 2006 issue, due March 1st.

Success HK have posted this new Camera for sale on their site:

The 5 megapixel digital camera is the first consumer-oriented digital camera with a dual lens system, which Kodak calls its Retina technology. This system incorporates a very wide 23mm lens with a non-extending 39-117mm zoom lens for a combined 5x optical zoom. The two lenses enable photographers to capture wide angles or to close in on a subject from far away ?all with non-extending lenses. The Schneider-Kreuznach lenses stay within the 0.8-inch thick camera body at all times, so the V570 keeps its slim profile for better portability. The Kodak V570 keeps the same LCD screen from the earlier V550 flagship. The LCD is a nicely sized 2.5 inches and has 230,000 pixels of resolution. Like its V-series counterparts, the Kodak EasyShare V570 is very automatically oriented. It has an auto mode, 21 scene modes, a movie mode, and a Favorites mode that utilizes the 32 MB of internal memory to store photographs and video clips for easy sharing and transfer. The Kodak V570 comes with an EasyShare Photo Frame Dock 2

Gamespot reports that a prospectus filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission revealed that Infinium Labs, makers of vaporware-of-the-year runner-up Phantom Game Console, have blown through nearly $63 million dollars, with only $3.5 million going to development costs. Half has been spent on advertising (advertising what?) and the other significant expense was... consultants. Why are we not surprised?
In order to recoup their losses, the company reiterated their intention to (further) delay their Phantom Game Service and concentrate on selling the lapboard peripheral. They are also having trouble paying their $25K/month Seattle rent, so if any readers in the Seattle area have an extra bedroom, or a converted garage, give 'em a call.

I'v gotten .d64 support working now in the c64 emulator, so now I can use snapshots created with the pc version of Frodo, as well as load .d64 disk images.

.t64 tape support isnt currently working because I havent been able to find a portable fscanf function, and/or figure out how to convert the following code.
Still have sound to fix, and couple issues with the onscreen keyboard. Next will be to figure out a menu for selecting options and .d64 images to mount etc.

I need someone with 2.0+ console to test the latest build.
PM me if interested.
1941 - level4:

Changes:
- added explosions when plane is hit
- increased the transparency level during the invinsibility period
- new enemy ( GROUNDER ) and objects BGPANEL/BGPANEL2 added.
sample definition:
00100|6|GROUNDER|200032
Last parameter isthe x,y coordinates in format x*1000+y
second parameter is the downscroll speed (5 = bg speed)
- added all sprites to "pre-loader" about 10 sprites were missing in v.8, and that cause minor hickups during the inital run of the levels.
- slightly changed AI and atacking patterns of some enemies
- changed the shield size for the plane to smaller and more realistic size..
- level4 (see screenshot)
- added the ending/bonus level.
- high scores are saved now
- added in-game messages fade-out
- better difficulty settings (the game is made easier on "EASY" setting
Let me know if someone wants to contribute to the development - I need a person with strong photoshop skills to create more enemy sprites and backgrounds...as wells as create levels data.
