Hi All,
Mancala is a board game familly, originated in East Africa. The word "Mancala"
came from arabic word "naqalah" that means literaly "To move".
Dingux-Mancala is the "Awari" variant, and even if the rule of this game is simple,
the complexity can be compared to chess Game.
The AI is based on the source code of H. Huseby & G.T. Lines, for their
implementation of the classical Minimax algorithm.
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.
How to play ? Here is the rules available from awari.cs.vu.nl :
Awari is played on a board where each player owns 6 pits. In the initial
position, all pits are filled with four stones, thus the initial position has
48 stones.
The player to move chooses one of its own, nonempty pits and removes all
stones from the pit. The player then sows the stones, counterclockwise, over
the remaining pits.
If the last stone is sown into an enemy pit that contains 2 or 3 stones
after sowing, the stones are captured.
In this case, if the second last pit is also an enemy pit that contains 2 or
3 stones, they are captured as well, and this process is repeated clockwise,
until the own pit, or an enemy pit containing less than 2 or more than 3
stones is reached.
The player who captures most stones, wins the game. The game end when a
player cannot move, however, to avoid such a situation early in the game, it
is not allowed to do a move that leaves the opponent without countermove,
unless all moves eradicate the opponent.

News via http://www.retroactionmagazine.com/
Issue 16 of MEGA (an early 1990s Mega Drive/Mega CD publication from Future Publishing) has been scanned and edited by someone called Nreive. Yes, this author took a couple of weeks away from editing/designing Retroaction to finally complete the arduous task of scanning and editing my first release for Out-of-Print Archive (a magazine preservation project). "Why start with issue 16?" you may well ask. Well, some of you may already know -- or not -- that I started a personal project to scan the full set of MEGA magazines in 2007, and I had scanned about a dozen (some of which can be found elsewhere), so I wanted to work on an issue that I hadn't done before. Full details and contents of MEGA issue 16 can be found at the link below, including online articles: Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Dune 2: Battle for Arrakis, Toejam & Earl 2 and The Lost Vikings. Enjoy.

News via http://www.retroactionmagazine.com/
After a wait of over 20 years, The Wild Bunch finally arrives on the C64. Programmer Jon Wells began the C64 conversion of this Spectrum and Amstrad classic back in 1987, but had to put the project on hold. Thankfully, the old disks were retrieved and the game has finally been completed. The game itself features a plot that wouldn't look amiss in a classic Sergio Leone spaghetti western: a lone cowboy is out to put right what is wrong, involving gunfights, outlaws, jails and saloons. The digital download is available from The Wild Bunch website, while the physical disk and tape versions can be ordered from Psytronik's website.

[Gerritt] wanted to give his crippled Atari 1024 STf a new purpose in life. He cracked it open and set to work filling it with some modern components. The keyboard from the nearly 25-year-old dinosaur doesn’t have all the keys we’re used to, nor did they all work, so he replaced the original with a 101 key model. The internal hardware was replaced with a microATX board, a picoPSU, Bluetooth and WiFi transceivers, a hard drive, and a slot-fed DVD drive. He even rebuilt the original mouse to use the circuitry from an optical mouse.
The final product is a 1.6GHz Pentium Mobile with one gig of ram. Now he has no need to pick up an EEE Keyboard PC when they hit the market.

Whether it's World War 2, the American Wild West or ancient Greece, history has long provided a rich source of video game narrative. Historical fact has been painstakingly preserved in some games, yet distorted beyond all recognition in others. Whereas one game may be praised for its depiction of history, others have been lambasted for opening fresh wounds or glorifying tragic events of our near past. Games have utilized historical narrative extensively, but to what extent does the platform take liberties with, and perhaps misuse it?

news via http://www.retroactionmagazine.com/
Issue 168 (November 1995) is very important in the timeline of Computer & Video Games magazine (a.k.a. CVG) as this was the first time that Paul Davies appeared as Editor, changing the face of the publication into one of the finest ever. Of course, he took over half way through this issue, and the major re-design and new staff members were a few issues off, but this is still an important chapter in CVG history. Additional online articles include Virtua Fighter (32X), Vectorman (Mega Drive/Genesis), Loaded (Psone) and NBA Jam Tournament Edition (Psone). Thanks to meppi (scanning and editing the scans), you can now witness this historic issue. Thanks must also go to Richard, who donated a huge amount of magazines, including many CVGs from the Paul Davies era. So, once again, thank you, Richard.
