Not only can this 2007 model UX490 quad-boot into OS X, Windows 7, XP Pro, and Vista Business, but its specs have been overhauled. A voice-capable HSPA modem has been added, plus a faster CPU and larger solid-state hard disk.
The original 1.2GHz Core 2 Solo U2200 processor (which was soldered in place) has been swapped with a 1.33GHz Core 2 Duo overclocked to 1.438GHz. And the 48GB SSD is replaced with a fast RunCore ProIV 128GB SSD. Amazingly, the battery life is said to be pretty much the same.
It's a pretty involved mod, but it's a hackintosh I'd definitely like to take for a spin. That 4.5-inch touchscreen doesn't look too bad, either.

[svofski] has a friend who is a pixel artist. They really wanted to try out their skills on a c64, but were missing a mouse. The original mouse for the c64 was not only serial, but used a different method of communication than more modern mice. [svofski] built this adapter to translate the ps/2 data to something the c64 can use. The writeup describes the build in detail and even has the PCB and source code available for download.

For those fans of the Fire Emblem series, a fully translated patch for Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the series, has recently been finished. While there have been attempts at it, no translation has been completed until now. So check it out!
Thanks also must be extended to Ms. Shimizu Hitomi who provided most of the script’s translation.

A sealed-in-the-box copy of "The Music Machine" - rated "Unbelievably Rare" by Atari Age - just went for $5,250 on eBay. The game, sold only in religious bookstores, is prized by collectors.
"The Music Machine" was based on a line of other products, including albums - back when they were, in fact, albums. The seller indicated his elderly mother owned a Christian bookstore, and, while going through her things, came across the game. It puts a real twist on the cliché of your mom chucking out a rare baseball card or comic book you later find out is worth thousands. I
If the guy is taking care of his mom, and it sounds like it, then it sounds like the dough will be put to good use. Or he could be spending it all on hookers and cocaine, who am I to make judgments of people I've never met? C'mon, I'm trying to be a nice guy here.

Out now! One of the last untranslated SNES RPGs, but certainly not the least.
Original exploration experience – Wander through over 40 different areas in this 2D game that combines first person mechanics with an overhead viewpoint. The series trademark camera system combined with the AutoMap function makes even friendly towns and harbors exciting places to explore.
You’re nothing special – Your wits are the only thing that separate you from the corpses of failed mercenaries scattered about. Survivability is not dependent on your level or strength, but on your adaptability to see through constantly changing traps and enemies. Treasure and terror go hand in hand.
Brandish with care – Flexible dual-wielding system combined with a magic slot adds another layer to real-time combat strategy. Switch between ultimate offense or ultimate defense on the fly.
Natural character growth – Your statistics increase with every blow you deal and each casting of a spell. Because you get better at what you do by doing what you do, there is zero grinding involved.

News via http://www.retroactionmagazine.com/r...extra-released
TCK has released COBEX (Cruising on Broadway Extra), a remake of the classic 1983 ZX Spectrum Cruising on Broadway game. A simple, but addictive, game where the player has to race around sections colouring grid lines, while avoiding the enemy chasers. The game is freely available to download, but do consider donating a small amount as you'll be able to take part in the online high-score board shenanigans. The Windows compatible game, as well as more details, can be found at TCK's web pages. (Thanks to IndieGames.com for the news.)

Aeon Genesis has released a complete patchf for Holy Umbrella - Dondera’s Wild!! It’s a silly action/rpg platformer game! The main character gets transported to an alternate world when he picks up an umbrella, and he has to save it to get home. The game is full of all sorts of cliche plot elements and jokes. It’s a total camp overload, but it’s a still a lot of fun. Script’s been fully translated by the intrepid Hexafire, and has been edited by yours truly. So enjoy!

Hi All,
Mancala is a board game familly, originated in East Africa. The word "Mancala"
came from arabic word "naqalah" that means literaly "To move".
Dingux-Mancala is the "Awari" variant, and even if the rule of this game is simple,
the complexity can be compared to chess Game.
The AI is based on the source code of H. Huseby & G.T. Lines, for their
implementation of the classical Minimax algorithm.
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.
How to play ? Here is the rules available from awari.cs.vu.nl :
Awari is played on a board where each player owns 6 pits. In the initial
position, all pits are filled with four stones, thus the initial position has
48 stones.
The player to move chooses one of its own, nonempty pits and removes all
stones from the pit. The player then sows the stones, counterclockwise, over
the remaining pits.
If the last stone is sown into an enemy pit that contains 2 or 3 stones
after sowing, the stones are captured.
In this case, if the second last pit is also an enemy pit that contains 2 or
3 stones, they are captured as well, and this process is repeated clockwise,
until the own pit, or an enemy pit containing less than 2 or more than 3
stones is reached.
The player who captures most stones, wins the game. The game end when a
player cannot move, however, to avoid such a situation early in the game, it
is not allowed to do a move that leaves the opponent without countermove,
unless all moves eradicate the opponent.
