Cless posted a huge update on the long running translation project of Tales of Phantasia today. There are many pictures and text to go along with it. I suggest you check out the link if you like RPGs
All that text can probably be summarized by saying they’re 70% done with the third script revision, have a fourth planned, have made several nice improvements, some minor hacking work still remains, and the project will likely take awhile yet! If you want the much more verbose version, be sure to visit his site!
RHDN Tales of Phantasia Page - This In Progress page is due to be auto deleted in May after 1 year of no updates. Anybody who cares should probably update it with the recent news.

Chinavision's CVFH-N03-4G may not have the catchiest titles, but it does boast an impressive array of emulators to satisfy your on-the-go retro gaming needs -- although we imagine those tiny shoulder buttons would prove irksome after a while. Support includes NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, SNK Neo-Geo and Capcom arcade systems CPS1 and CPS2 -- sorry, no love for Atari 2600 or Commodore 64, here -- all accessible through a menu that in no way, shape, or form resembles Sony's Xross Media Bar. It also plays MP3, MPEG5, FLAC, WMV, AVI, and a few other audio / video formats, and reportedly can function as an e-book reader with text to speech capabilities -- y'know, just in case there weren't enough entities peeved at it being a beacon for ROMs. As for hardware, we're looking at a 2.8-inch QVGA LCD, 4GB internal memory, a mini-SD card slot, and AV out for the television. Buy one for $87.31, three for $83.82 apiece, or if you're feeling generous, pick up 50 for a more generous, undisclosed discount.

The GAME-800 is just another one of those direct from manufacturer PMP all-in-one pocket devices. And maybe it's just because I was a corpulent kid, but I find the design quite charming.
Emulating NES/Famicom, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Super Famicom and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis titles, the GAME-800 is a crudely controlled but effective looking pocket emulator with a 3.5-inch screen and 4GB of expandable storage. It also doubles as an MPEG4 player, eBook reader (with Chinese/English text to speech) and a low fidelity camera.
The GAME-800 is available now for an $80 import.

Last year, the -Minus World put its talents to good use on Atari Modern Classics, de-making box art for BioShock, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Portal in the Atari 2600 style. Ready for the sequel?
The NES Modern Classics are just as snazzy, providing us with re-imagined box art for games like Dead Space, Gears of War 2 and Animal Crossing: City Folk—among others—from an alternate universe where we never progressed beyond the Nintendo Entertainment System. A scary thought, but it makes for good box art parody.
We might venture a guess that some of the new "modern classics"—say the NES versions of Killzone 2 and Wii Sports—come with a side of commentary, free of charge.

Here is PSP Flight is a simple flight simulator, nothing compared to Flight Simulator X
but good enough to take off using Air-France plane, have a trip and land in several french airports.
Of course many features are missing and work still remain (add planes, map, airports etc ...) but it is still playable.
I would like to thanks Manu & Buzz for scenario and sound effects.

Retrogaming Times Monthly has a new website domain to go with the new current issue: retrogamingtimes.com. After existing for over ten years, the free on-line magazine finally gets its own home. The RTM archives and the original Retrogaming Times issues will be transferred over in the near future as well.
There are also plans to index every article written for the magazines, which will make it easy to look up certain reviews, articles, stories, etc. The new issue 58, March 2009, contains the usual mix of articles from the 1970s to the 1990s on various computers and consoles and is well worth a look.
Content includes:
Falling Arcade Prices
RTM Idiocy Part 3
Apple II Incider - Wheel of Fortune
The Thrill Of Defeat: Games for the 2K Timex Sinclair 1000
Old Wine in New Bottles: The Activision Anthology

We know it's torture seeing all these UMID M1 videos with little to no hope of a US release, but just think -- it's the perfect excuse for you to use that dusty passport before it expires next year. The all-too-intriguing handheld, which is currently strutting its stuff in South Korea, has been heavily videoed by YouTube user loa2000kr. We're talking Warcraft / Quake III demos, 1080p movie playback tests and even a look at how it handles 2D side-scrollers. For a peek at the most excellent, jump on past the break; for the full monty, tap that read link.

An uncompromising vision of a future world dominated by roving, power-up-collecting bobsled gangs, Sega's new Storm-G arcade game puts a "spin" on things by rotating the rider a full 360 degrees in accordance with the action. It's not exactly the most immersive arcade experience ever produced -- at some point you'd think Sega would get tired of rolling people down virtual tubes -- but it does look pretty wild and stomach-wrenching. The folks at Akihabara News got to try it firsthand at Sega's Joypolis in Odaiba Japan, and found the experience rather exhausting.

We've talked about the Tectoy-backed Zeebo before, but now we've got a little more insight into its plan of attack straight from its presentation at this week's Game Developers Conference. The Qualcomm-powered, 3G-equipped game console is heading to Brazil first a little earlier and cheaper than initially anticipated -- it'll launch in May for the US equivalent price of $200, about one-third the cost of buying a Wii locally. It'll come bundled with a handful of titles and give you the option of download the original Quake and a few others for free. All the rest will presumably fall under that US $3 to $13 price range they announced in November. Following that, expect it to show up in Mexico later this year, India next year, and Eastern Europe sometime in the middle of 2010. China is expected to follow sometime in 2011. No word yet on when or if the company's planning to try its luck in other regions.

via Games Industry
The Game Developers Conference yesterday saw the announcement of Zeebo, a 3G wireless games console specifically tailored for the emerging markets.
The budget console is set to go on sale in Brazil next month for USD 199 - almost one-fifth the price of the leading consoles - with other markets to follow. The disc-less device features a wireless downloadable games service and comes pre-installed with four titles as well as one free download.
"The Zeebo console will deliver a truly engaging and entertaining gaming experience to a potential billion new consumers around the world, many of whom have never experienced gaming in the home," said John Rizzo, CEO of Zeebo.
"The system provides an intuitive, quick, and easy-to-use home shopping user experience featuring popular, culturally optimised content from leading game publishers and developers around the world. It also delivers high-value and warranty protection compared to grey market products with no need for a separate wireless access plan."
The Qualcomm-funded console has partnered with a number of publishers and developers to deliver their titles through the system, including Capcom, Digital Chocolate, EA Mobile, Id Software, Namco and THQ, among others.
"We've had a vision for a wireless videogame console targeted at the special economic and culturally relevant content needs in emerging markets for several years and we're excited to see Zeebo embark on this ambitious new venture," said Mike Yuen, senior director of games and services, Qualcomm.
"Qualcomm has had a long history of enabling our partners with disruptive wireless technologies and services and we look forward to continuing our support of Zeebo."

Kojote posted an appeal to those who ran the Cybiko site:
I've wrote an email to the guys at Cybiko, who are now into mobile game development, about two weeks ago.
The original Cybiko page had more than 400 Freeware games hosted and I thought it would be a shame to not save them for the future, as the official page is down.
Unfortunatly no one replied so far, which makes me a bit sad - So if anyone is having the entire Cybiko Freeware collection as it has been published on it's former official page, please feel free to contact Kojote! http://pdroms.de/contact/
if anyone knows any info then please post here or contact kojote, its sacrilege to lose homebrew scenes because of pages going down.

The SNES version of Tenchi Muyo! was based on the popular anime series. It is a strategy game that, although very short by RPG standards, can become quite addictive (partly due to its simplicity).
In the year 2000, a 98% English patch was released by LNF Translations.
It wasn’t until after beating the Japanese version of the game that I discovered the English translation. After this discovery, I went through a few mood swings:
I became excited about the opportunity to finally understand what I was playing.
I became disappointed with the numerous bugs in the English translation. They were so bad that it was more fun when I couldn’t read it.
I became determined to restore this game to the quality it would have if Banpresto/AIC Pioneer had released a North American version.
I leave it up to you to judge how close I came on that last part.

We've seen Capcom's beloved blue bomber tackle misanthropic Robot Masters on a single plane. We've seen him bust hard-hatted Mets in 3D with the Mega Man Legends series. Graphic designer Peter Sjostrand recently introduced a bold dimensional direction for the series to exploit: Both 2D and 3D. Or is it neither? We can't be sure -- it's been a while since we last read Flatland.
Rather than try and explain the mind-expanding physics featured in Sjostrand's Mega Man 2.5D, we direct your attention to the demo video posted after the break. It's got kind of a Paper Mario thing going on, only with more automatonical violence and less, well, paper. However, considering Sjostrand's background as an animator and not a developer, we doubt this is actual gameplay video. We're really sad, now. Probably will be all day.

This is somewhat old news, but Saya no Uta has been translated to English. Saya no Uta is a game which stars a med school student named Sakisaka Fuminori who wakes up from an accident in which both his parents died, and he’s left with a new view of the world. Literally. Due to the shock of the accident, he goes insane, everything he sees is covered in blood and guts, and every human being looks like a nightmarish monster… except for one girl named Saya. The game is definitely 18+ and for the love of God, don’t play it late at night.
