Hello,
Today is kind of a big deal because Remote Play is arguably one of the coolest features available on the PLAYSTATION 3…and my personal favorite. This video will teach you how to set up Remote Play between your PS3 and PSP. The latest special issue of People celebrates the Atari 2600 as the console that “ruled the interactive gaming world” in the 1980s – no mention of the original Nintendo, Sega Master System or even Coleco Vision.
I’m not sure why People Magazine is even celebrating the 80s in the first weeks of 2009, but if they’re going to trumpet everything that ever mattered between 1980 and 1989, why isn’t the NES on the there? According to this exhaustively researched article by GamesRadar, the NES sold way better than the Atari 2600.
In fact, aside from a joke about the 2600 being the son of Pong, there’s no mention of video games in the 80s at all. Shame on you, People!
People Magazine’s “Celebrate the ‘80s!” special issue is on shelves now.
P.S. I think People actually meant to call out the Atari 2600 Junior. The original 2600 came out in 1977 and therefore hardly deserves to share page space with the Rubik’s Cube and a Cabbage Patch Kid.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 80 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
This week has been mostly calm with major game and music releasing countries enjoying their national Christmas and New Year Holidays. Still, a popular band and some music producers managed to squeeze their works through the slowly diminished end-of-year line.
Kat-Tun, another one of Johnny's chart toppers recorded the last concert of their Queen of Pirates Tour and gave it to their fans as a New Year present. Debutting as a rock band, the DVD is filled to the brim with exciting fast paced tracks and passionate dance numbers.
Spend your New Year holidays with your idols and introduce them to your family and friends whenever you have the opportunity.
Still not enough excitement? How about a night with charging zombies, ceaseless gun fire and cutting edge computer graphics? The Umbrella incident in Raccoon City is resolved and people have been living somewhat peaceful lives until the undead started popping up again.
Christmas or New Years need not be blissful or peaceful if you know where to look, and we are pointing you to the direction of Biohazard Degeneration.
Bemani's Pop and cute rhythm games Pop'n Music and its music producers have also brought their fans something to spice up their New Year parties by. Created for fans, Pop'n Music Request Best! contains the long versions of songs with the most votes.
Besides the fan favourite tracks, a composer and major contributor to the game also released his first album, Plug+Program. Another interesting game soundtrack is Lord of Vermillion, Square Enix's excellent arcade trading cards game.
Here's a summary of all new releases that were published between Saturday, December 27th and Friday, January 2nd, 2009. If some specific item that you are looking for is missing, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service with your request.

Looking to mix in some illegal ROM downloading action with your standard PMP activities? Oppo's got your number with the Muse G11, confirmed back in September and just now getting a few more details. The swiveling 3.2-inch, 432 x 240 touchscreen device offers a scant 4GB of storage, low for its $161 asking price, but support for extensive audio and video formats, text to speech capabilities, and integrated FM tuning make it a bit more functional than your average media player. Of course its biggest draw will be among the gaming community thanks to its d-pad and dedicated buttons, but we still don't have any confirmation of what sort of games it'll support out of the box -- nor any idea of when we might be able to get our hands on one.

[rdagger] sent us this really well done multitouch MAME cabinet build. He ha penned to find a used, and fairly worn cocktail cabinet. The monitor was damaged, keys lost, and internals had been home to mice for some time. He promptly tore out the old guts, replaced the smelly mouse damaged base and began building the projection system. For touch sensing, he’s using a web cam with the IR filter removed to detect disturbances in some IR laser beams. We’re not completely clear on how he mounted the lasers, he skips over that part. There’s nothing groundbreaking in the technology here, we’ve done multitouch many times before. This project stands out in its execution. [rdagger] has done a fantastic job, the construction looks fantastic. Check out a video of it working after the break.

Biohazard Degeneration the 3D animated movie is releasing as DVD's, Blu-Ray Discs and PSP UMDs a week later but the Original Soundtrack is already out for you to prepare yourself for its impact. The cyber rock and punk styles inspire images of charging zombies and ceaseless gun fire.

While the Best Album carries the theme songs the series used between 2006 and 2008, the Character Songs CD features the music talents of the best partners Ichigo and Rukia.

John Maushammer enjoyed his 15 minutes in the limelight from the creation of the Pong wristwatch, but as any true superstar will tell you, a quarter of an hour just isn't enough. The DIY Asteroids Watch is a real step above the aforementioned predecessor, with an inbuilt tilt sensor so the wearer can control the action by simply tilting their wrist. We'd gush about it more, but that'd just be doing ya wrong -- instead, we'll point you to the live action vid waiting just past the break.

The been-there-done-that competition of the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii are a total yawn this holiday season, so we thought we'd give you a console war with a few more interlocking plastic building blocks mixed in to keep things interesting. These two otherwise-unrelated case mods each bring their own strengths to the competition: while the Lego PSX mod might be more technically impressive, it looks totally amateurish next to the classy Lego NES stylings. But, like with all things in life, there can only be one winner. This is America, after all.

Hot games that came out, or are coming in the autumn/winter season are releasing their original soundtracks this week. As part of the promotional campaign for Tale of Hearts, the developing team published their soundtrack this week.
The theme of the game, Eien no Ashita is sung by Deen, the veteran band that performs "Yume de Aru Youni", theme song for Tales of Destiny. Listen to the full version here and be prepared for the impact the game brings.
The Last Remnant and Super Robot Taisen Z also released their soundtracks, let the fantasy and the excitement charge you up before a hectic day.
Movie marathons and sleepover parties are wonderful holiday activities. To fill up the night with exciting moments, watch Batman: The Dark Knight on your HD TV. Consider giving the 2 Disc Bat-Pod edition as a gift to your loved ones. Not only is it in a beautiful window box, but it comes with the model of the dark hero's beloved vehicle.
Besides special effects, The Dark Knight is one of the last films Heath Ledger (A Knight's Tale, Brokeback Mountain) has made and his Joker proves to be one of the most villainously chilling in the history of Batman films.

At first glance, you may wonder if Chumby is simply too lovable to rock a version of Quake, but after peeping ChumbyLurker's port of the game, we'll be darned if the two aren't perfect for each other. He's been gracious enough to make it available as both source code and a disk image, and installing the game is as easy as plugging in your USB drive and turning the machine on. On the video we've seen, the 350MHz device appears to keep up with things quite well, but the best part would have to be that the mouse and keyboard control inputs have been eschewed in favor of the accelerometer -- when Chumby leans forward you move forward, ditto left and right. The bend switch is used to fire, and the touchscreen used to jump or activate items. Unfortunately, there's no network support at the moment, so if you feel the need to go multiplayer, it looks like you'll be stuck with your Nokia handset. You can see a video of the thing in action after the break.

Here's a Sunday challenge for you -- what in tarnation is this thing? The mysterious T-swivel type handset has appeared on a Korean site, presumably signifying its status as a simple concept. Obviously, the device packs a full QWERTY keyboard, a front-mounted camera, a rather sizable display and a swivel contraption to keep things horizontal when texting and the like. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours here. Any clues on this thing's origins? We only ask because, you know, we'd love to actually toy around with one.
