Hi All,
Hu-Go is a famous emulator of NEC PC Engine console, running on many system such as Linux and Windows.
(see http://www.zeograd.com/ for details)
PSPHugo is a port on PSP of one latest version of Hu-Go.
How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.
Special thanks to my friend Nicolas C. for his support and kindness, without him i would have never found enough motivation to port Hu-Go to PSP.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public licence v2, read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

It's a first release, work still remain to improve the speed and to fix graphical glitches on games such as gunhead.

I've finally found some free time to deal with the FreeDO. I'm locking the poll, as it's clear that GPL V3 is the way to go. At this moment i'm trying to find decent host for the SVN. I'm also cleaning up the sources and providing comments where possible (mind you -- some pieces of code are 6 years old Wink ). As for the docs -- i'm going to translate all info i have to english.
P.S. I'm still looking for volunteers to pick-up the 3do-scene.com design... that is essential step before moving to opensource. That site should be centralized portal for 3do emu scene...

Someone recently came across a beta or possibly store demo for Sonic the Hedgehog: Pocket Adventure for the NGPC. The standard Sonic has long been known to have a debug mode, accessible through button pressed, and people had hinted about seeing an alternate intro - but thanks to this rom being found, you can now view the lost intro. It seems it was just a giant chunk of PCM sound, so was cut for size reasons. It seems to be the announcer from Real Bout, as well. Thanks to Flavor for pointing it out, and the Sonic Retro forums for the hard work.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 380 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
As a part of the promotional campaign for the newest game in the Rockman series, Capcom has published the Rockman 9 soundtrack to give gamers a taste of their upcoming release.
Rockman 9 would be returning to the game's roots, instead of having fancy graphics and music to distract the players from the fun, the game is developed retro styled. So be prepared for the sense of nostalgia that will surely flood over your senses.
2008 is a special year for two highly popular Jpop stars, Hamasaki Ayumi and Otsuka Ai. The two singers are celebrating the 10th and 5th anniversaries of their debut with musical releases respectively.
The more experienced Hamasaki Ayumi released her best of best album, A Complete - All Singles [type A, type B] which contains the cover songs of all 43 singles she has released in the last 10 years. The younger Otsuka Ai, on the other hand, produced Kurage, Nagareboshi [type A, type B, type C, type D], a tribute to all people in love .
Love ballads are Otsuka Ai's forte and a rare production for Uverworld, a rock band that excels in fast paced, exciting numbers. Koishikute [limited & standard editions], the newest single shows another side to the popular band.
Besides the music releases, a summer block buster is coming out in DVDs and Blu-Ray disc editions. Red Cliffs is John Woo's modern retelling of the most exciting episode in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The engaging film features some of the most popular stars such as Tony Leung and Kaneshiro Takeshi and is sure to leave the viewers overwhelmed.

Lawrence/NFG has a new site, to (as he says) "get this festering love of controllers out of my system." It's called NFGcontrols, and has reviews, how-to guides for hacking and modification, and features about controller theory. It's all pretty nifty stuff - like this mod that allows use of a Neo Geo, Atari, or FM Towns sticks on a wireless 360 pad (not in the cleanest way, but still). This post is also interesting, regarding the two manufacturers of PS1 pads - one of whom was excellent, and the other, not so.

A new version of Cloanto's Amiga emulator has , and it does all sorts of new things that I don't precisely understand. Here's what they are:
"The new player for Windows uses heuristic logic to autoconfigure downloaded games and supports double clicks on disk images and game files, saved states, disk write undo and dual-monitor setups. On the cross-platform front (i.e. used without Windows), the KX Light boot environment features a new kernel and hard disk installation (with online updates).
On the content side, the Gallery section includes the full and original 1979 Tripos (Amiga OS precursor) presentation, and new "top secret" Amiga-Atari documents, while more than 200 games and demoscene productions are sure to deliver hours of enjoyment. The Premium Edition additionally includes more than five hours of videos."
So there you go. That is out. Unfortunately, it costs money. The cheapest version is $30. But if you're serious about the Amiga, this is quite a good solution for playing it on your PC...

A fellow named FluBBa is making a NGPC emulator that runs on GBA. It's pretty slow right now (download the beta here), but along the way he discovered something very interesting - an extra bit in the register of buttons, that when pressed, actually activates debug modes in certain games. This is different from the debug mode found in Sonic, but more on that tomorrow. Not all games have been tested, but so far three games have been shown to have interesting results when the button is pressed. They are Card Fighters' Clash, CFC 2, and Dokodemo Mahjong.
Flavor, who did the CFC 2 English hack, kindly sent me some screenshots of all three games, including CFC2's English version, which has odd results because it's already been hacked. These were taken using a modified version of his own emulator, RACE. If you want to see the pics of all three games, download them here.

If the Flash version of Portal was just a tad too hi-fi for your discriminating needs, perhaps the Atari 2600 "demake" of the title will do. From The Independent Gaming Source's Demakes contest, in which developers were tasked with remaking current titles on old platforms — Shadow of the Colossus for the TRS-80 Model III, for example — comes Super 3D Portals 6.
The 8-bit re-imagining is playable on the Atari VCS emulator of your choice, but the author recommends Stella. It's also free. We're firing up our copy of Stella on the Kotaku Towers West PC to partake right now.

For those who haven't seen previous versions, XTiger is a unix emulator (under X Window) of a TI-92 calculator (Texas instruments).
It was originally written by Jonas Minnberg and was closed source.
Jonas Minnberg has not worked on XTiger for quite a while and he gave Misha Nasledov the code and permission to GPL it.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 460 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
A number of interesting game soundtracks have arrived, this lot includes the Soul Calibur IV OST and the Bemani music albums. While Soul Calibur IV consists of grandly orchestrated themes that portrays the heroic journeys of the heroes, the Bemani music are energetic, even hyper at times.
As a fighter, Soul Calibur IV is mainly using its music themes to highlight the mood of a situation while the Bemani music are vital elements to the game play.
Synthesize, by Fujimori Sota and Pop'n Music 16 Party OSTs carries some very stylish music that deserves to be played repeatedly.
Aside from game music, one of the veteran boy bands of Johnny Entertainment's - Tokio has released a new single, Amagasa [limited versions: type A, type B & standard editions] after 10 months. Going along with the bands' initial "Power Pop" image, Amagasa is a strong beat pop song which seems to blow away the dark clouds with its pulsing force to let in a ray of sunlight.

Leonardo has found Tec Toy's original game developer, Devworks. This is the company making the original games on the Tec Toy Mega Drive and Master System consoles, among them Pense Bem, which we'll discuss in a moment. Devworks claims to be the only developer for Tec Toy. Their site for Tec Toy work is here, and you can also find a list of all the games they've made. Here's what Leonardo has to say about their upcoming stuff: "They're even making an arcade cabinet with a new Turma da Mônica game (Turma da Mônica being a popular comic book license; back in the old age we had a Wonder Boy title sprite-ported to Turma da Mônica characters). And their Pense Bem Genesis game is even better than a direct port: it actually has scenario in which schoolboy Little Danny is haunted by the ghost of Pense Bem who challenges him to answer the questions!"
For those who don't know, Pense Bem (which means "think well") is a toy/book/game line which teaches kids things like history and geography. Traditionally it has not had a storyline as far as I know, so this would be the first time it has a scenario/adventure mode. It is one of Tec Toy's most popular non-Sega products, and many Brazilian people actually remember it quite fondly from their youth. Also, in that arcade link, notice the giant MAME logo on top of the cab ("damn!" indeed). Keep in mind that this is listed as "in development," but the English version of the site, the only place you can find the arcade reference, hasn't been updated since 2005.

Tec Toy Brazil is releasing a new Sega console, the Mega Drive 3, with 86 built-in games. It's got a very router-like design, with two Genesis controller ports on the front. Comes with two three-button controllers, which is really odd, considering the Master System 3 comes with six-button controllers, and looks more like an actual Genesis/Mega Drive. It has composite out as well.
But here's the really interesting thing - four of the games are new. Tec Toy has licensed four EA games and ported them to the Mega Drive, which means official big-budget titles well after the death of the console in the West and Asia (sorry Beggar Prince). The games are Fifa 2008, Need for Speed Pro Street, The Sims 2, and Sim City - ports of mobile games, according to the text on the site (it says versão mobile). If you look at the full game list you'll see that a lot of these games are completely mysterious. Games like Aniversário or Aquaduto are likely simple original Brazilian Mega Drive games...we've discussed their original Master System games before, and I'd imagine this is more of the same. In fact, Aniversario and several others are actually on that SMS list as well, so they could just be straight ports. The list of official games is odd as well. Battle Golfer Yui, for instance! Or the horrifying Crystal's Pony Tale. There is unfortunately no price or release date listed, but I'll get more information as it develops. Thanks to Leonardo for the link and Portuguese help.
This actually has some additional implications. The Genie is going to be released in Brazil (more info here) at some point in the near future, and is mobile architecture-based. These ports show that Tec Toy is already building relationships with large publishers on the mobile front, and further that they are building up their infrastructure for ports. Will Genie games be ports, or originals? That's unclear, but the option is open for the Genie to actually have its own versions of games, rather than straight across dumping of mobile titles (this would allow for controls to be customized, since handsets are so different). Very interesting developments at Tec Toy these days.
Notes for the blogs who will run this story and who don't know who Tec Toy is: This console has built-in games only, there is no ability to play carts. Tec Toy is a Brazilian company with long ties to Sega, and has been their official distributer there for years, distributing the Saturn and Dreamcast officially in the region. They are currently working on a new console called the Genie. Please get the information right.

Been playing around with FrodoWii lately have added some routines to play around with how the emulation is working, right now I have only implemented gamecube controler, press left trigger and it does the simple
10 PRINT"HELLO WORLD"
20 GOTO 10
RUN
which runs forever
and if you press the start button on the controller, it loads a hardcoded .prg file, right now I have been testing Bruce Lee, but for some reason sound isn't working yet. I did a compile of the source against devkitPPC R14/libogc and was able to run it under an older gc emulator, so I could get this screenshot. But I have also tested it on hardware, kind of cool to be playing Bruce Lee on my TV again.
Hopefully will have time to release a updated test binary and the source code soon.

It’s time to chuck those goofy 3-D glasses. Electrograph just announced the first stand-alone 3-D gaming system. The company says they will show off the system with the Philips 3D WOWvx 42-inch LCD display, at this week’s CEDIA show.
Using the 1920x1080 LCD display and Electrograph’s unnamed, proprietary software drivers, the system can play many of today’s PC games. Ready to accommodate multiple players, the system can show off a wide range of viewing angles with “out-of-screen” effects.
“There is nothing more addicting to kids, teens and even adults than modern video games,” says Jeff Jerome, Electrograph’s director of product management. “In fact, many underutilized home theaters are now serving as supersized game rooms. So imagine the appeal of true 3-D gaming—without the glasses—that the whole family can play.”
Amen brother!
There’s no word on when we will actually see a system hit shelves. However, Electrograph is inviting integrators to start getting certified starting in October.

Taking inspiration as well as construction cues from the massive NES controller table built in May, SCAD Inc., which I will charitably call a garage-based novelty enlargement collective, set out to build a giant-sized SNES controller, complete with functioning buttons. A few months later the build is complete, and it looks, well, huge.
The angular, simply-shaped NES controller lent itself well to humongonization, but the rounded sides and shoulder buttons made the SNES a formidable challenge to accurately build at such a large scale. The SCAD guys sure as hell pulled it off though, getting everything from the curvature of the L and R buttons to the fonts used on the control labels almost perfectly right. The body of the controller is cut from wood, and the buttons are connected directly to the guts of a standard SNES controller, preserving the now hilariously small-looking cable and connector. The builders say that videos (hopefully including some gameplay action) are forthcoming, but for now check out the full log of the building process at the SCAD Inc. site.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 640 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
Let horror permeate the air, lower the temperature of your room by a few degrees with the Siren: New Translation Soundtrack. As the most horrifying game ever produced, its soundtrack alone will plant a seed of terror in your nervous system.
Expect the Soul Eater Soundtrack to be as cool and pop as the fantasy action anime. Published by Square Enix and Bonzo, the anime features the lives and missions of students studying in the school for death angels. To go with the exciting action and the theme of partnership, the album is filled to the brim with hip elements.
The fights in the "Tales of" series are often magical and heroic and this mood is largely portrayed by its clever use of music. Tales of Series Game Battle Arrange Tracks allows its listeners to revise all of these battles in one go. Feel the adrenaline in your blood stream as you relive all the exciting battles.
Months after the release of Drink it Down, the theme song of Devil May Cry 4, the chart topping J-Rock band L'arc-en-ciel released their new single Nexus 4 and Shine.
Since Nexus 4 is the theme for a Subaru car commercial, it portrays a sense of freedom and speed while Shine, the opening of the anime Seirei no mamoribito depicts the desire to protect someone or something important.
It has been almost a year since Kinki Kids released their last single Eien ni in 2007 and even longer since Doumoto Tsuyoshi appeared in front of a T.V. screen as a detective. Secret Code [Limited and Standard versions] and the related drama, 33 Tantei appease both wishes at once.
Making use of brass instruments such as trumpets and trombones, Secret Code is a fast paced, fun song with a sense of nostalgia. Re-assess the charms of the grown up idol group and Doumoto Tsuyoshi's transformation from teen detective Kindaichi Hajime to the current Kurama Rokurou.
Here's a summary of all new releases that were published between Saturday, August 23rd and Friday, August 29th. If some specific item that you are looking for is missing, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service with your request.
