The Gadget: The eMotion Solar PMP, a 2GB machine which claims to play music, videos, Nintendo/Game Boy/Sega ROMs, e-books and more—all while charging itself and other devices via its built-in solar panels. If you're nice, it may even pump your gas and tuck you in at night.
The Price: $169
The Verdict: For a piece of crap, this thing is pretty awesome.
Sure the UI is slow and ugly, the buttons are confusing even after repeated use, and the playable formats are somewhat limiting (yes MP3, WMA, AVI; no AAC or DivX). But hey it works. It does almost everything advertised.
Putting photos, music, videos, and ROMs on it is a breeze. It came with Super Mario Bros. and Contra Force for Nintendo and Raiden Trad and Street Fighter 2 for Sega, and you can get other ROMs through, let's say, back channels. Video game play is solid, though I recommend only playing very basic games on a screen that small—that is, 3 inches, with 320x240 resolution.
Video playback was great for the preloaded clips, but chopped and stunted with my own (this may have been an encoding problem on my part, but seriously, it only supports 320x240 AVIs, that's pretty weak). The e-book reader is just a glorified text viewer, but it can also do text-to-speech reading in a relatively normal voice. Photo browsing is awkward, but it works. The machine came preloaded with some shots of LL Cool J and Lou Gosset Jr., so who am I to complain?
Hardware wise, there are ups and downs. Two headphone jacks and an obnoxiously loud speaker work fine, but adjusting the volume is a pain since there is no dedicated button. There's an SD slot, but it'll only get you an added 2GB, as it doesn't support SDHC. The nice thing is, the boasted solar charging actually worked, especially for the device itself, but even with other random electronics. My iPod took some finagling, but I figured out how to do it, and it works well. The only thing I couldn't get it to charge was an iPhone. What's up with that?
Of course, as I was finishing up my testing, the device just had to crash; it took an hour of draining the battery just to be able to restart it. Calling tech support in the middle of the afternoon didn't yield any results either, as the company was closed. You're absolutely getting what you pay for with this relatively cheap PMP, but since it's got features you won't find on mainstream players (for legal reasons and otherwise), it is a decent buy. Besides, if you have sunlight, you won't have to worry about a charger.

If you're an owner or prospective owner of the Cowon Q5W, you're probably impressed with its myriad audio and video playback capabilities -- but did you know it can handle emulation as well? Apparently, since the device is based on Windows CE, it's fairly easy to get game emulators up and running on the 5-inch PMP. In the video you can watch a setup of what appears to be an SNES imitator playing both Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario Kart (two favorites of our SNES fanboy, Paul Miller, we suspect). The games are controlled by a decidedly non-Nintendo accessory -- a PS1 controller connected via USB adapter. With that recent $50 price drop, this may be just the incentive you need to spring for a shiny new edition to your gadget library.

Continuing our network wide feature for just about every console thats emulated and that we own, in time it can be used as a reference point for people to look at what games are the very best on each system
Firstly heres a look at each system and a description to remind you of the history of the console.
FM Towns Marty
The FM Towns Marty, a.k.a. "FM Towns", a.k.a. "FM Marty Towns. A brief glance at this system, and you might mistake it for a white Turbo Duo, but on closer inspection, you'll notice that the slot on the front isn't for a HuCard, but instead for an actual 3.5" floppy.
The Fujitsu Company decided to make an attempt to penetrate the console games market by taking their popular FM TOWNS line of computers, and adding in some special components to create a stand alone video game console. The plan was for the software designed for the FM TOWNS computers to be modified slightly so that the games would work on both the computer and the console. The FM Towns Marty has the distinction of being the first 32-bit video game console.
This system was compatible with most of the Fujitsu line of computers, so it could use the 3.5" slot to play many of computer games. The 32-bit system's CD reader was used mainly to play games made specifically for this system, although some computer software at the time also came in CD format. The system was released in 1991 with a 386 processor that was later upgraded to a 486 (The FM Towns Marty 2). The first version is much rarer, but more limited. Since the system can play games designed for the FM Towns PC, it's library is larger then what you might expect.
It came with a two button controller and had a port for a second controller as well. A mouse and keyboard were also available to play compatible PC games. If ever there was a system made to play "hentai" games, this was it. While it may not have been it's main purpose, there were many adult anime games available. Fujitsu supported the units for many years, and some third party games supported the systems as late as 1999. Fujitsu wisely discontinued the console line with the arrival of the more powerful 32bit Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn.

Your mouse, it's boring. Why should you, a unique and beautiful snowflake, us a pointer for your computer that's just like the pointers everybody else has for their computers? It's just plain criminal. You need to show off your totally-unique video game hobby to the world, and the best way to do that is with a fancy custom mouse.
Just make yourself a mouse out of an old Game Boy! I mean, really, how can you go wrong there? It combines a Game Boy, which you clearly approve of, and a mouse, which is one of those necessary peripherals to have to keep your computer functioning. The A and B buttons will act as your right and left clicks, which might not be ergonomically, but it sure is cool and unique, just like you.

If you are the type who collects old gaming memorabilia that will probably be actually played with once before taking up closet space, then boy oh boy do we have exciting news for you. PlayAsia is selling new, old Game Boy PocketPrinters. Originally retailing for almost $60, you can score one now for just $10 and shipping. And if you happen to have a compatible Game Boy along with the Pocket Camera peripheral as well, who needs one of those lame-ass camera phones. Am I right?

Hi ZX-81, hi all
i tried to use PSPoste Beta6.2 FW3xx on a PSP Slim and a PSPFat with CFW 3.90M33-2. If i start PSPoste (installed in ms0:/PSP/GAME/ or ../GAME380, the program loaded from MS, LED flashing and after 2-3 seconds it returns to XMB. Do you know any workaround or trick for me? In the ini File i have change the parameter for keyboard type 0. If i set the parameter to 15 8standard inn ini), the PSP crashed and go "off". (Slim & Fat)
(The same with Beta 6.1)
-- Edit --
Unfortunately I can't use Kernel 1.5 Version of PSPoste , my wlan works with WPA only.

So the Wii Fit is on its way but for all of you who still want to sweat it out in the gym, here's a device promising to increase the effectiveness of your workouts.
Sega Toys has released the Body Trainer, which uses a monitor that detects your heart rate and adjusts the pace of the music to optimise your training.
You simply enter your age and other vital stats, select your workout (jogging, walking or aerobics) and the Body Trainer will take care of the rest.
It's expected to be available in April for around $54 or £27.

RPGOne Translations is known for its multiple translations of classic games.
From the official website:
We've reached the point where we need to move on with projects, but in order to do that, we need help. Are you an ASM programmer who has experience with 8-bit and 16-bit ASM? If so, we're looking for your help! Check this news post for details.
RPGOne's projects are currently in need of a new programmer, and we're looking for all the help we can get. Any ASM recoder interested in helping is invited to send us an e-mail telling us they're willing to contribute. A sample of your work (in the form of a patch to an existing game or a link to a project you helped with the recoding of and a few details of your part in that project) would be appreciated. Don't be afraid to offer to help if you're new to the scene, either; you have to start somewhere, after all!
It should be noted, of course, that we can't pay anybody who's a part of RPGOne, as we contribute what we do to the community as a labor of love. Apologies if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but that's just how it goes. If you don't mind, then shoot an e-mail with the topic title "Applying for RPGOne ASM Recoder Position" to skyrender@gmail.com. If you have questions, send an e-mail with the topic title "Questions About RPGOne ASM Recoder Position" to the same e-mail address. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
