Exclusive Sega will next year launch a portable media player boasting enough functionality to threaten Sony’s PlayStation Portable, the Register Hardware can exclusively reveal.
The PMP is to be called the Sega Vision and it’ll work as a videogames machine, in addition to playing films. The unit will feature an integrated camera for capturing still images and video. A built-in TV tuner will provide yet another form of entertainment.
Sega Vision may also threaten Sony’s Reader range of e-book viewers, because books are listed as one of Vision’s features. The Sega PMP will also handle music and work as a voice recorder.
Sadly, none of the machine’s technical specifications have been revealed yet, such as which music formats it’ll support, whether there’ll be on-board storage or how many megapixels the camera will have.
Sega told us that Vision will be launched in the UK at some point early next year, but a price hasn’t been set yet.
However, if you like what you've heard, then a handful of working models – believed to be the only ones in existence in the UK – are currently sitting in a central London arcade waiting to be won.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 330 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
Happy Birthday [Limited & Standard Editions] is a new, relaxing and catchy pop song by News. As image boys for Kose, a famous toiletries brand, the band spots a clean and refreshing image. To all those who are choosing gifts for loved ones' birthdays, inside your prettily wrapped up luxurious toiletries, you can attach a copy of News' single.
To those who prefer something more exotic, we recommend the Hakuoki - Shinsengumi Kitan Soundtrack. As a soundtrack for a dating game, romance permeates the whole disc, aside from that, since the plot of the game takes place in the Bakumatsu period, expect the music to be somewhat nostalgic.
Aside from the above mentioned darkly romantic game soundtrack, the cute and fun Chocobo Racing OST will raise your spirits. Previously released exclusively for Japan, this album is now available for the whole world to enjoy. Listen to the familiar themes from Final Fantasy and discover what miracles remixes can do for them.
After the interesting Jpop releases and soundtracks it is time for the movies. The superhero film Iron Man is available on Blu-Ray Disc, 2 Disc Steel Box and 2 Disc Iron Mask Packages. The film spots a star studded cast and brilliant special effects that are best displayed on your HDTV with a Blu-Ray Disc.
Here's a summary of all new releases that were published between Saturday, September 27th and Friday, October 3rd. If some specific item that you are looking for is missing, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service with your request.

Parallax has just released their NES controller socket to the delights of modders everywhere. Instead of forcing them to chop up an old NES to get the 7-pin socket, Parallax has made it available for only $2 on their site. The NES controller would be great for all kinds of little projects, from robots to old-school gaming devices, and we're really looking forward to seeing what inventive modders can do with the humble and much-loved controller.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 630 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
A number of interesting game soundtracks have been published this week. Sakuraba Motoi, the music director of several hit RPG titles such as Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean has produced a piano solo arranged album for the Tales of series. Appreciate the mellow classical atmosphere instilled into the tracks with this album.
You have a wide range of choices this week, for those who enjoys something relatively peaceful, there is the above mentioned Tales Of Series Piano arranged tracks, but for those who prefer nightmares over sound sleep, Siren 2 Original Soundtrack has the perfect lullaby for you.
Sigma Harmonics' Soundtrack sits somewhere between the Piano collection and Siren 2 OST, instead of introducing outright horror, the OST creates a more subtle and suspenseful atmosphere. Aside from full versions of tracks used in the game, music that are used in promotion movies and pieces that never made it into the game are included in the collection as well.
X Edge and Super Robot Taisen Z are both hot games that are released this week, and although they are of vastly different genres they both contain crossover elements. As part of the promotional campaign X Edge released its OST on High Quality discs while Super Robot Taisen Z published it's theme song Crest of Z's Toshin No Monsho as a CD single.
Other interesting soundtracks include PixelJunk Eden Original Soundtrack and Knights in the Nightmare Original Soundtrack.
After the volumes of music, its time for movies. After producing captivating horror films such as The Eye, Angelica Lee is joined with Isabella Leong on a romantic tragedy that combines supernatural elements and horror. Watch the actresses' superb performances and beautiful under sea photography via the Blu-Ray Disc version of Missing.
Here's a summary of all new releases that were published between Saturday, September 20th and Friday, September 26th. If some specific item that you are looking for is missing, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service with your request.

In these classic gaming news updates you will find a frequent summary of all classical titles which were added to our site. Availability is subject to frequent changes and fast decisions are recommended as we usually have only very few copies of those titles that are listed below. As always we are trying to expand our catalogue regularly.
In case a title is already listed as sold out, we recommend you use our Track it Down! feature or subscribe to our Personal Agent on the item's product page. We are monitoring your subscription and try to restock the title if possible. Once the game is back in stock, you will automatically receive an e-mail notification from us.
Further, if you are looking for any title that is not listed on our website yet, you are always welcome to contact our customer service with your request. We will try our best to track down the requested title and add them to our website with one of our next major updates.

Get me Valve on the phone. Tell Lombardi that the Portal prequel dev team can go home - their services are no longer required.
And yes, that Portal fan mod can sling its hook too. The Commodore 64 remake 'Shotgate' has rendered both games utterly pointless.
Yes, it's a Portal clone for the C64. No, it's not in 3D and - yes - it does look quite like that Flash tribute from last year.
This little fella was made in just 4K of C64 assembler for the Mini Games Comp 2008. If you like the look of it, the programmer is actually selling it in C64 cartridge form in a limited edition run of 20. Buy now to avoid/ensure disappointment.

At this year's Arcade Amusement show in Japan, Taito has resurrected retro title Elevator Action. Dubbed Elevator Action: Death Parade, this isn't a joystick game, but rather, a light-gun arcade game. The cabinet has surround sound and seems to even have elevator doors! The cabinet should hit arcades sometime next year. This cabinet better play elevator music when those doors are shut.

Welcome to this week's Movie/Music news roundup, containing new Japanese and Hong Kong Video and Music releases from this week listed at Play-Asia.com. Around 310 new items are covered in this week, including new J-Pop, Anime as well as Japanese, Hong Kong and Western movie releases and much more.
Take a healthy dose of Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy box set. Recorded in high definition with Blu-Ray Discs, this collection is going to turn your sitting room into a real cinema.
When people mentioned pirates, the face of Jack Sparrow will pop up (aside from Luffy, perhaps) the success and pervasiveness of this image is not merely due to the make up but the veteran actor's execution. Endearing characters combined with exciting special effects and an engaging plot, this is a deal you cannot miss.
Most people have heard of the talented singer and pianist through Final Fantasy 12's theme song Kiss me Goodbye. With a minimum of sound effects and arrangements, there usually are very few things to distract the audience from Angela Aki's strong, melodious voice and messages within her works.
Tegami ~ Jugo no kimi e [standard and limited editions] is chosen as a number to be performed in the Junior High School National Concurs, organized by NHK. With its emphasis on the hopes life brings, this is a particularly suitable song for teenagers and many have been moved to tears when Angela Aki herself sang it on stage.
While Angela Aki encouraged young people to face their future with hope, Ikkitousen Best Song Collection [standard and limited editions] portrays quite a different picture. Sung mostly by voice actresses, the songs are upbeat, energetic and amplifies the sex appeal of the characters.
Fan service and combats are very much the essence of the show and the songs display the fighter spirit of the girls and their ability to make you swoon.
Here's a summary of all new releases that were published between Saturday, September 13th and Friday, September 19th. If some specific item that you are looking for is missing, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service with your request.

Archos' Generation 5 players may have been left in the dust by the shiny new Generation 6 players, but they still have quite the fan following, some of whom have been busily doing their best to get around Archos' stock software offerings. Now it seems that one of them, a member of the ArchosFans forums, has finally managed to crack things open by hacking the bootloader, which opens up a number of possibilities including the ability to remove the hard drive volume limitation. It also seems to have had the "side effect" of revealing a few plug-ins that had been previously hidden, including "Screen," and "C" (for Core) above, although they don't appear to be of much use. The workaround apparently won't work on players with a firmware version higher than 1.7.13 though, and there aren't exactly any clear instructions for modding your own just yet

Peir Solar, previously Tavern RPG, is now available for preorder, in both standard ($35) and deluxe editions ($50). The game has been previously discussed here, but is an actual genesis cart release, developed by members of the Eidolon's Inn forums. Both editions come with the cart, and a Sega CD disc for a hifi soundtrack. Also has a clamshell box and a poster - not bad for $35 bucks. The deluxe edition gets your name in the credits and the manual.

via Eurogamer
A collectable gold-coloured Commodore 64 sold on eBay yesterday for an incredible GBP 2650 (around EUR 3340).
Apparently it's one of only a few hundred ever made. They were produced back in 1986 to celebrate the production of the one millionth C64 home computer to be manufactured at the German production plant. Back then, that was a big number.
The lucky seller's parents 'won' the super-rare item at CeBit in Hanover 1987, and promptly locked it in a cabinet and never used it.
But while the item was acknowledged by C64 aficionados to be rare, the amount it fetched has surprised many in the retro community - eclipsing recent auctions for the unreleased and supremely rare C65 machine.
So, if you're busily hoarding rare retro gaming items in your loft, you might want to start cashing in on them. £64 for a slightly dog eared C64 copy of Zak McKracken, anyone?
