Note that this is the first Streets of Rage 2 hack with both an edited title screen and ending sequence!
You all know the story…
A year after their first battle with the Syndicate, the original Ragers and their city have enjoyed 365 days of peace. But, nothing lasts forever…
Mr. X had come back with a vengeance, going toe to toe against not only the rag-tag team of Max, Axel, Blaze, and Skate but also at least once against the Fearsome Foursome, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Having last suffered setbacks at the hands of the Green Machine, the Syndicate has reared its ugly head once again. Mr. X challenges Mike, Leo, Donnie, and Raph to a final battle for the city, leaving them unaware that he’s made an alliance with one of their toughest foes…
Will the Heroes in a Halfshell topple the demonic duo of Mr. X and one Oroku Saki? Or will the Syndicate overrun the turtles and finally prevail?
Double Z / eskayelle’s fifth romhack revisits his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles … of Rage game and remixes it, adding the following features:
- Playing this game on a Japanese Mega Drive? A European Mega Drive? An American Genesis? Regardless of your system, the same tubular TMNT Remix title screen and story intro will display. (Region locking has also been removed and the Game Genie master code applied. Checksums, be gone!)
- A couple music tracks have been switched within the stages, providing more urgency in the final stage of the game, with an unused remixed throwback to one of the main themes assigned to Stage 7.
- A re-colored Donatello is now much more purple… and brooding…
- Duplicate turtles in duel mode are now recolored, putting them that much closer to their ‘80s cartoon counterparts.
- Are you used to Leo being the most well-rounded turtle? Raph being the strong one? Each reptile has been rebalanced!
- Tired of getting your head stomped in by your “buddy”? Ti’s friendly fire patch has been applied, limiting the damage players can do to one another in story mode to throwing enemies and weapons.
- Subtle revisions have been made to enemies in 6 of the 8 stages, ratcheting up the difficulty a tad, while giving some new flavor to the game. Think you can find all the changes?
- A blatant homage to an old WWF wrestler is now made much more obvious; plus, he’s decked out in an old rival’s Mega Powers colors.
- Galsia/Garcia and Donovan finally get their due! Play far enough into the game, and on the right difficulty setting, and you’ll have to contend with each of them once as a mini-boss.
- Thanks to savok, now all players can run in all directions, as well as start a run when turning around. With the added speed, how many more juggle combos can you create with your favorite turtle?
- Thanks to a utility by Sharpnull, the ending is a lot more… mutant.
- Shiva’s on a leave of absence given his multiple failures to protect Mr. X. Backing X up this time is… the Shredder!
- Continues have been removed to balance the lives options and allow for greater difficulty. Choose your turtle, and your lives count, wisely; you’ve only got one shot to take down the big man with the cigar.
Think you can settle the score with Shredder and Mr. X with one live to live and no continues? This ain’t your daddy’s Streets of Rage 2. Why not download the game, fire up your YouTube account, and step up to the challenge?
Don’t forget these fab features from the first TMNT of Rage, which make their return here:
- Restorations from the original SoR2: Garcia, Garuda, and Mosquito names; enemy knockouts counter; Mr. X’s cigar and cigar animation; and unused track “Little Money Avenue” (placed on Stage 3).
- That new TMNT title screen – with a remix!
- Portraits of the TMNT within the player select screen, those portraits being based on the SNES Turtles in Time game (and Donnie’s purple now a little darker).
- Name sprite tiles on the player select screen (“MIKE”, “LEO”, “DON”, and “RAPH”).
- More lives and difficulty choices in the options menu!
- Shadows on the more commonly used player sprites, to reduce that “floating” feel in game.
- Air/juggle combos.
Check the in-game credits and the readme for some folks whose assets, code, or tutorials/guidance helped make this game happen!

Following a string of delays, Atari announced it is "deep in the final stages of pre-production" for the Atari VCS.
Originally announced in late 2017 as the Ataribox, the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign was pushed back to summer 2018 and the console was re-branded the Atari VCS.
After raising £2.3 million on Indiegogo, the retro-inspired console was slated for March 2019 release, only to be delayed again until March 2020.
More concerns were raised just last month after Atari VCS architect Rob Wyatt announced his departure, alleging that Atari owed him and his company Tin Giant "over six months" worth of invoices.
However, in a lengthy blog post, Atari VCS COO Michael Arzt has made assurances that the Atari VCS launch is imminent, and that Indiegogo backers should be receiving their console ahead of the March release window, along with a bonus reward for their patience.
Arzt said the March 2019 delay was to improve the console's performance and lifespan, make it cooler and quieter, and adjust the gamepad and joystick following extensive testing.
"Atari will always prioritise delivering a high-quality product over a self-imposed deadline," he added. "That was true at the project's start, it was true in March 2019, and it is true today."
While Atari is still being closeted regarding certain features and partnerships, Arzt said the company is working with some very large brands, and currently on-boarding both game and app developers.

CPCEC / ZXSEC (2019/11/18) is released. CPCEC is an emulator of the family of home microcomputers Amstrad CPC (models 464, 664 and 6128) whose goal is to be loyal to the original hardware and efficient in standard modern systems. Thus it brings a faithful emulation of the Z80 microprocessor and it replicates the behavior of the CRTC 6845 and Gate Array video chips, the PSG AY-3-8912 sound chip, the remaining circuits found in the original hardware, and the tape deck and floppy disc drive that made possible loading and running software. ZXSEC is an emulator of the Sinclair Spectrum family (48k, 128k, +2/Plus2 and +3/Plus3) based on the components it shared with the Amstrad CPC family: the Z80 microprocessor, the PSG AY-3-8192 sound chip, the tape system and the NEC765 disc drive controller.

AppleWin v1.29.6.0 is released. AppleWin (also known as Apple //e Emulator for Windows) is an open source software emulator for running Apple II programs in Microsoft Windows. AppleWin has support for most programs that could run either on the Apple II+ or the Apple IIe. By default, AppleWin emulates the Extended Keyboard IIe (better known as the Platinum IIe) with built-in 80-column text support, 128 kilobytes of RAM, two 5.25-inch floppy disk drives, a joystick, a serial card and 65C02 CPU. AppleWin can also use the PC speaker to emulate the Apple II's sound if no sound card is available (does not work under NT-based Windows versions). Full screen mode is available through the use of DirectX. Features added to the latest versions of AppleWin include Ethernet support using Uthernet, Mockingboard and Phasor sound card support, SSI263 speech synthesis, hard drive disk images and save states.

FS-UAE v3.0.2 is released. fs-uae is a multi-platform Amiga emulator based on UAE/WinUAE, with a focus on emulating floppy-disk and CD-ROM based games. An important feature of the emulator is that it is fully controllable with a gamepad from your couch, with an on-screen GUI, which means that you can easily swap floppies and load save states with your gamepad. fs-uae is well suited to be started from an emulator frontend running on a HTPC, for instance.
The emulator has less configuration options than other UAE variants, but rather focuses on default settings which just works. For example, if you are running fs-uae in Amiga 500 mode, you cannot turn off cycle-exact mode.
FS-UAE v3.0.2 Changelog:
Another fix for global WHDLoad quit key.
Fixed a misleading warning when cyberstorm ROM was not found (3.0.1).
