Marcin Siwek has let us know that his first Atari Lynx game called unseen is being currently in production. This text adventure consists of unique backdrops, multiple dialogue choices throughout the game and a few items to find. It is worth mentioning that there are a few different endings in game to achieve. Some of them will give you quite a challenge. The main focus of unseen, like in any other text based games, is the story, expressed with vague and oneiric tone. unseen have intense dark atmosphere, where not everything can be easily understood.

vhzc currently works on his Atari 2600 / Atari VCS game Peril. Take over a helicopter and guide it intact to the next screen.
Release notes:Now includes 17 screens and use the 2 playerscores minikernel instead the 6lives in order to show the lives AND the current level/screen. I have changed some sprites and the mechanics for some screens (bigger bullets, slower movement in the eye screen…). Still I have no harmony cart or similar, so I look for testers.

Some awesome news for retro gaming fans:
Atari certainly isn’t new to the retro bandwagon as it released various ‘Flashback’ consoles back in 2004-2011 but now, it’s coming back with two retro consoles! One of these is an extremely good-looking woodgrain handheld and the other is a plug-and-play TV joystick.
One of the consoles, which in my opinion is the most interesting, is called the “Atari Retro Handheld” and costs £34.99 (around 40€) which makes it a nice Christmas gift. Without a doubt, the main selling point of this handheld is its woodgrain aesthetic which mimics the look of the original Atari 2600. Other than looking good, it also offers a total of 50 retro games which isn’t shabby for the price (let’s face it, you’re paying less than 1£ a game!). Among these games, we find:
- Breakout
- AsteroidsCentipede
- Missile Command
- Millipede
- Unfortunately, the game line-up is missing some great Atari 2600 classics like Pitfall, Q*bert, Ms Pac Man (the original Pac Man wasn’t great on the 2600), Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and Dig Dug.
The joystick isn’t as interesting but it can still be a pretty nice gift to friends who love the Atari 2600!
If you’re not a fan of retro handhelds, you can also grab an “Atari Retro TV Joystick” which offers the same selection of games for a lower price of £24.99. The TV joystick comes in the form of the original Atari 2600 joystick but has a few extra buttons so that you can control the mini-console itself.

Fresh off of releasing his NBA Jam TE - Double Z Mod romhack of an SNES classic basketball / beat-em-up extravaganza, eskayelle has released his Hacking NBA Jam TE: A Beginner’s Guide document.
An aggregation of everything eskayelle researched and learned while modding the game, the document purports to provide guidance on everything from modding court and uniform colors, to injecting PAR codes into players, to modding stats and graphics, and more!
While eskayelle’s goal is to generate interest in NBA Jam: Tournament Edition, and more hacks of it, he admits to two alterior motives:
- The hope that hackers may find the document useful enough that they consider annual roster updates to the game.
- The hope that experienced hackers may find the document interesting enough that they may want to pitch in with some guidance on sound hacking.
For those of you interested in digging into some fun, smash-mouth, 2-on-2 basketball, please pick up a copy of a document (and perhaps the Double Z Mod patch) today!

Intellivision Entertainment has this week announced the Intellivision Amico, inspired by the original 1979 console.
Joining Sony, Sega, and Nintendo in the retro hardware space, Intellivision Entertainment has reclaimed the formerly defunct brand in order to produce a modernised version of the classic console.
The Amico intends to capture the family market, offering a range of re-imagined and remade retro console games from Intellivision, Atari, and Imagic.
It will also include a host of classic titles such as Toejam and Earl, Miner 2049er, and Tropical Angel, along with brand new games, all exclusive to the Amico.
Priced between $149 and $179, the console is slated for release on October 10, 2020; it will only feature games that are rated E for Everyone, or E10+ and will not feature any "costly DLC" or in-app purchases.
Speaking over the weekend at Portland Retro Gaming Expo, Intellivision president Tommy Tallarico stressed the company's focus on accessibility and affordability.
"Most every game being made for the home consoles these days is created with only the hardcore gamer in mind," he said.
"We see a world where everyone is interested in playing at home and with friends... Our goal was to create a console that both gamers and non-gamers are able to have fun with and play together.

I just watched with Ben Daglish and wanted to share. Quote: 'Ben Daglish, one of the UK's greatest video game musicians died earlier this week at the age of just 52. Ben was one of the now legendary Commodore 64 Sid Chip musicians of the 1980's where the technical challenges of making any kind of meaningful sound, let alone music, were not just met, but surpassed by the likes of Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, David Whittaker, Fred Gray and others, but also of course Ben Daglish ... This film was shot during 30 minutes of complete spontaneity in July 2013 in Max Hall's recording studio in England. Ben had been writing and recording music for the 'From Bedrooms to Billions' film soundtrack for two long days and before going home was just having a cup of tea, when suddenly we all started talking about 1980's Commodore 64 music.' Thanks goes to smf for the heads up.

After some work, the retranslation of Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust Gaiden was finally completed. This franchise is based on an old toy line used to play a tabletop RPG. It spawned an OVA, two games and some other types of media. It was decided that this game would be a good candidate for a retranslation (there are a couple more games like that from the early period of romhacking). It’s a pretty simple action RPG, and hopefully the potential players will enjoy the efforts to give it some more polish.
Also, additionally, congrats to Pluvius/Eien Ni Hen/Filler on completing the patch for Outlanders, yet another franchise that got its own anime adaption!
