Liquid Media is the latest company to try and tap the lucrative nostalgia well following its acquisition of 65 retro game titles from Throwback Entertainment.
Included in the deal are the rights to games such as All Star Baseball, NFL Quarterback Club, Kwirk, and Bubble Bobble.
Although speaking in vague terms, Liquid suggested the property acquisition could lead to game remasters, sequels, and even video adaptations of the properties.
In a statement, the company highlighted the thriving retro market driven by the release of classic mini consoles; in June, for example, the NES Classic was the fastest selling hardware in the US, outpacing both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
"Retro gaming is driving incredible success for the world's largest players, like Sony and Nintendo," said Charles Brezer, director of Liquid Media Group.
"Sony is gearing up to release a revamped version of its iconic PlayStation Classic just in time for the holiday season and Nintendo's retro consoles have sold millions of units in the past couple of years.

Supper, TheMajinZenki and cccmar are proud to present 2 translation patches for FC adventure games, Detective Sanma and Idol Hakkenden.
Detective Sanma is a quirky murder mystery adventure title with Sanma Ayakashi as the main protagonist (besides the player). You need to solve the mystery in a typical Portopia fashion, but with a lot of wacky events and characters thrown in.
Idol Hakkenden on the other hand is an adventure game in which you control Erika Saionji, an up-and-coming idol, who wants to win the family inheritance in a skill competition. Again, it’s quite a quirky adventure game, with a cool soundtrack (the game was developed by Natsume - one of their only 2 adventure games for the system to our knowledge) and some unexpected twists and turns. We almost made it in time for the game’s 29th b-day, too. 
We also have a few unannounced projects in the pipeline that shouldn’t take too long to get completed. So, stay tuned for some news and in the meantime have fun with the games!

AppleWin v1.27.8.0 is released. AppleWin (also known as Apple //e Emulator for Windows) is an open source software emulator for running Apple II programs in Microsoft Windows. AppleWin has support for most programs that could run either on the Apple II+ or the Apple IIe. By default, AppleWin emulates the Extended Keyboard IIe (better known as the Platinum IIe) with built-in 80-column text support, 128 kilobytes of RAM, two 5.25-inch floppy disk drives, a joystick, a serial card and 65C02 CPU. AppleWin supports lo-res, hi-res, and double hi-res graphics modes and can emulate both color and monochrome Apple II monitors; later versions of AppleWin also can emulate a television set used as a monitor. Both 40-column and 80-column text is supported.
AppleWin can emulate the Apple II joystick (using the PC's default controller), paddle controllers (using the computer mouse), and can also emulate the Apple II joystick using the PC keyboard. AppleWin can also use the PC speaker to emulate the Apple II's sound if no sound card is available (does not work under NT-based Windows versions). Full screen mode is available through the use of DirectX. Features added to the latest versions of AppleWin include Ethernet support using Uthernet, Mockingboard and Phasor sound card support, SSI263 speech synthesis, hard drive disk images and save states.

Today AGTP releases a complete translation for Laplace’s Demon, a Japanese-style RPG with a lot of western RPG sensibilities and a healthy dose of Lovecraft in its atmosphere. Set in the fictional town of Newcam, Massachusetts in the year 1924, Laplace’s Demon follows a team of paranormal investigators as they look into the disappearance of local eccentric Benedict Weathertop.
The original translation released in 2001 was… not up to snuff. There were loads of technical problems, not the least of which involved the font overwriting itself during text printing and the battle narrative almost always being out of order. The new translation fixes all of these; it is complete and mostly without any issues. See the readme for two known problems, at least one of which may be a bug present in the original game. There were a lot of those.
Given the enormity of the difference between the original v0.95 and the current release, it’s being tagged as a v2.00. Enjoy!

This project initially began several months ago when Pennywise saw a tweet from Tom about wanting to retranslate this game. Ironically, Pennywise had had another translator look at the scripts for comparison purposes, but nothing ever came of it. Fast forward and we now have a complete translation of the original Japanese God Slayer for everyone.
While a solid translation for its time, Crystalis still suffered from the usual censorship and truncated script. This translation of God Slayer rectifies all that and gives interested players a chance to see what could have been.
We also discovered the existence of text in the main script of the game devs congratulating you on beating the game. As of this time, we still don’t know if it’s used or not and preliminary checks have not yielded anything.
Lastly, Tom and Pennywise have another project to announce. Discussed years back as a potential project, this translation has flown off the handles and is nearly done hacking-wise. The Nerdulus Constellation coming soon to a translation near you.

Astronomer is the first Atari 2600 game by Alex Pietrow. It is a simulation game of sorts that allows the player to get into the shoes of an astronomer and observe stars with the world’s largest telescope. The aim of the game is to aim the telescope beam at a star and observe it troughout the night. This is achieved by filling up an ‘observing bar’. However if the astronomer takes pictures of clouds while observing a star, the entire observation will be ruined and the astronomer will have to start over. This can make his or her life difficult as there is only a certain amount of time alocated to this one observer. Once this time is up, the game is over. Just like in real life, the observer who can do the most with their time will be considered the best, but this always will partially rest on luck. Can you get the high score?

Atari and PQUBE will be releasing two new Atari products this holiday season. The first of which is a small handheld, seen above, which has a 2.4 inch screen, and will come with 50 Atari 2600 games packed in.
