If you were around in the 1990's, you might remember those old Tiger Electronics handheld games. At least, the company is hoping you remember them fondly, as they'll be bringing back those nostalgic little devices later this fall. Classic black-and-white games such as Transformers, X-Men, and The Little Mermaid will be available, looking exactly as they did when they originally released, all those years ago. They've even remaking the Sonic 3 version, so while SEGA may pretend the game doesn't exist anymore, Tiger Electronics is here for all your Sonic 3 re-release needs. You'll be able to buy each of these at GameStop, for $14.99.

AppleWin v1.29.10.0 is released. AppleWin (also known as Apple //e Emulator for Windows) is an open source software emulator for running Apple II programs in Microsoft Windows. AppleWin has support for most programs that could run either on the Apple II+ or the Apple IIe. By default, AppleWin emulates the Extended Keyboard IIe (better known as the Platinum IIe) with built-in 80-column text support, 128 kilobytes of RAM, two 5.25-inch floppy disk drives, a joystick, a serial card and 65C02 CPU. AppleWin supports lo-res, hi-res, and double hi-res graphics modes and can emulate both color and monochrome Apple II monitors; later versions of AppleWin also can emulate a television set used as a monitor. Both 40-column and 80-column text is supported.
AppleWin can emulate the Apple II joystick (using the PC's default controller), paddle controllers (using the computer mouse), and can also emulate the Apple II joystick using the PC keyboard. AppleWin can also use the PC speaker to emulate the Apple II's sound if no sound card is available (does not work under NT-based Windows versions). Full screen mode is available through the use of DirectX. Features added to the latest versions of AppleWin include Ethernet support using Uthernet, Mockingboard and Phasor sound card support, SSI263 speech synthesis, hard drive disk images and save states.
AppleWin v1.29.9.0 Changelog:
[PR #756] Write support for WOZ1/WOZ2 images.
Fixes titles that need write support (see: #686, #704, #705).
Allow creation of a blank (WOZ2) image (see AppleWin.chm: 'Creating Disk Images').
multi-file zip support extended to scan for the first valid image.
useful for most woz-a-day multi-file zips which have at least 2 entries and previously needed unzipping.
NB. files in multi-file zips are still write-protected (same for all image types, not just woz).

Atari has acquired an exclusive technology license for all assets of mobile tech start-up Wonder, for an undisclosed sum.
With this license, tech, and assets, Atari plans to integrate the capabilities of the company's Android-based platform, WonderOS, with its upcoming Atari VCS hardware. Though the announcement was light on details, some degree of cross-platform functionality between the Atari VCS and mobile devices appears to be in the cards.
"Atari has strong mobile gaming business and deep experience as a publisher," said Atari CEO Frédéric Chesnais. "Incorporating Wonder's exciting technology will accelerate mobile integration within the Atari VCS platform, while better positioning Atari to capitalize on the promise offered by 5G digital cellular networks."
Currently, the Atari VCS is slated for a March 2020 launch and was in the final stages of pre-production as of November last year. The console is planned to release with full 4K, 60fps, HDR content, a built-in web browser, and the "Atari Vault," containing over 100 classic Atari titles. Other games and apps coming to the service have yet to be announced.

Ootake v2.95 is released. Ootake is a PC Engine emulator for Windows. Ootake is the most frequently updated PC Engine emulator available for windows, and Ootake is also one of the more complete. Also, Ootake is FREE unlike Magic Engine.
Ootake v2.95 Changelog::
- "Windows Pad Order" has been added to the pad setting screen. When
connecting two or more Windows Gamepads, you can set which pad is assigned
with the highest priority. Use this when the second and subsequent pads
are connected, and the priority of the pad that was originally changed is
lowered and the setting is shifted.
- "Overscan TV Mode" has been added to the "Screen" menu. Since v2.92, the
aspect ratio is displayed more accurately, but black belts are displayed on
the left and right in the 256 dot horizontal mode. When this menu is
selected, the black belt display part can be eliminated and the left and
right full window display (similar to Ootake before v2.91) can be made.
However, 6 dots at the bottom of the screen are hidden to maintain the
aspect ratio.
Originally, "6 dots at the bottom of the PC Engine screen" is rarely used
for important displays, and most games can be displayed without any
problems. I think that many old CRT televisions for home use had a display
in this range. Use it when you want to play in that atmosphere or when you
want to capture with the left and right filled when capturing the screen.
You can also switch this by pressing the [F11] key.
- "Adjust TV Top-Position" has been added to the "Screen" menu. In
"Overscan TV Mode", you can adjust the vertical display start position. It
can also be adjusted by pressing the [Ctrl]+[F11] keys multiple times.
- The shortcut key of the overscan area display was changed from [F11] key to
[F12] key. [Ctrl]+[F12] key can also be used to display the overscan area
of top only.
* [F11] key switches overscan TV mode.
* If you want to switch to full screen, press [Alt]+[Enter] key.
Also, when displaying the overscan area, only the top and bottom areas are
displayed by default.
- When pressing [F12] key while pressing [Ctrl] key, only the top part is
displayed in the overscan area.
- "Start Overscan TV Mode" has been added to "Setting->Screen" menu. Use this
mode when you want to switch to overscan TV mode (the viewing range is as
narrow as an old home TV) from startup.
- Cleaned up the "Capture" menu. Also, screenshot size and drawing method are
displayed in the menu.
- "Overscan display state" is not restored during normal state loading. It
restores only when loading resume(Turn on the "File->Set Resume" menu).
- When switching overscan area display ([F11] key) in window mode, if the
window is below the center of the desktop screen, the window position after
switching is adjusted to the bottom side.
- In the audio graph display ([9],[0] keys), in some games, the yellow graph
remained even when the DDA sampling sound was muted. This problem has been
corrected.
- Fixed the problem that the pad was not reflected when changing the gamepad
while Ootake was running when setting the gamepad.
- "1366x768" was added to the FullScreen resolution setting menu field.
- "FullScreen 640x480 60Hz" in the "Screen" menu (for switching to full
screen mode with any PC environment) has been changed to
"FullScreen 800x600 60Hz". Also, at the time of execution, the drawing
method is returned to the default(Direct3D).
- When switching to full screen ([Alt]+[Enter] key), the screen is switched
stably even in a PC environment where the available memory is low.
- Fixed a bug (from v2.92) that it display was shifted in a game that can
play with 4-split display.
- The speed and timing have been made closer to those of the real machine.
In "Chibi Maruko Chan", solved the problem that the display of the raster
interrupt part was distorted when clearing the stage.
- Fixed a bug that recording of the play record function (
"Capture->Play Record" menu) was not performed correctly at some games.
- Other minor details have been fixed and improved.

zBoy v0.71 is released. zBoy is a multiplatform GameBoy emulator that provides a load/save feature, can perform PCX screenshots either manually or automatically (every few seconds) and emulates an internal battery for ROMs that were designed to use one (this allows to use the internal save option provided by such games, remember highest scores, etc).
zBoy supports some additionnal features, too, like intelligent saving of hi-scores for some games that aren't able to save their hi-scores table by themselves because of the lack of a battery-backed RAM on the cartridge, and improving screen's resolution output using graphic algorithms like Scale2x, Scale3x, eagle... Here you can see a comparison between graphic algorithms supported by zBoy. This is also one of the very few GameBoy emulators that provides a 2-gameboys link emulation, which makes it possible to play some games in 2-players mode on a LAN.
zBoy allows to play GameBoy games using a keyboard or a joypad (or both). The emulator is available for Linux, DOS and Windows (but should compile for other systems without much headache as well).
zBoy v0.71 Changelog:
- Joypad emulation fix (Galaga & Galaxians controls work now),
- --showfps displays fps on-screen instead of using the window's title bar,
- video backends (SDL2, Allegro) optimizations,
- MMU code simplified (faster, lower RAM usage),
- minor sound bug fixes,
- dropped Eagle scaling support (Scale2x and Scale3x are much better).
