The Mohammad bin Salman Charity Foundation is set to take a controlling stake in Japanese games firm SNK.
The not-for-profit organisation has invested around 813 million riyals ($223 million) in SNK, which gives it a 33.3% stake in the company, valuing the company at $669 million.
Reports of the deal have emerged in the last 24 hours, but now the foundation's official site confirms the details.
The investment itself was made through a wholly-owned subsidiary, referred to as the 'Electronic Games Development Company.' The two companies have previously worked together on the development of games, and training programs that saw young Saudis visiting Japan.
The agreement stipulates that the foundation will buy a further 17.7% of SNK's shares in future, granting it 51% ownership of the company.
As the name suggests, the Mohammad bin Salman Charity Foundation was established by Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammad bin Salman. Its stated goal is to invest in initiatives that will help "cultivate and encourage learning and leadership in youth for a better future in Saudi Arabia."

If you thought the latest Amiga release of Heart of Darkness was a cool news story, then you might be interested in this other Amiga news announcement, as thanks to Luca Carminati of LC-Games, he has released all of his Amiga games that he coded in the years 1995/1998 as an ADF pack via Itch.io. Although the description of the pack is very vague, the developer has said "The pack contains adf files to be used with a Commodore Amiga emulator. Alternatively, you can find some way to write the adf files to floppy and use them on a real Amiga".

CPCEC / ZXSEC (2020/11/22) is released. CPCEC is an emulator of the family of home microcomputers Amstrad CPC (models 464, 664 and 6128) whose goal is to be loyal to the original hardware and efficient in standard modern systems. Thus it brings a faithful emulation of the Z80 microprocessor and it replicates the behavior of the CRTC 6845 and Gate Array video chips, the PSG AY-3-8912 sound chip, the remaining circuits found in the original hardware, and the tape deck and floppy disc drive that made possible loading and running software. ZXSEC is an emulator of the Sinclair Spectrum family (48k, 128k, +2/Plus2 and +3/Plus3) based on the components it shared with the Amstrad CPC family: the Z80 microprocessor, the PSG AY-3-8192 sound chip, the tape system and the NEC765 disc drive controller.

WinUAE v4.5.0 Beta 11 is released. WinUAE is the commodore amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE is a mostly complete software emulation of the hardware of the Commodore Amiga 500/1000/2000. A Commodore Amiga, for those who don’t know, is a 16/32 bit computer system based on the Motorola 680×0 CPU and a few specially designed custom chips that provide very good graphics and sound capabilities. Its first incarnation, the A1000, appeared in 1985, followed by the highly successful A500 and A2000 models. WinUAE is a port of the originally written for Unixish systems UAE; but over time, it seems the Windows port, WinUAE has become the best version available on any platform. WinUAE is free software: you are welcome to distribute copies of it and/or modify it, under certain conditions. There is no warranty of any kind for UAE. For more details concerning these issues, please read the GNU General Public License, which describes the terms under which WinUAE is distributed.

In 2017 Lazycow released an early version of a high quality platforming game for the NES as an entry for the 2017 Nesdev competition. It gained favorable feedback during that time with one such member noting the game had nice level design, felt non linear and incredibly moody with rather nice animation. Well the news of this week is, this NES game is still being ported over to the C64 by the same developer, and there's a new teaser available to download for the C64 further down the page.

Way back in 1984 Firebird released the Pirate style Arcade Puzzle game 'Booty' for the Amstrad CPC, C64, Commodore Plus/4, and ZX Spectrum. In that game you played as a cabin boy that had to steal treasure from his pirate masters, which meant avoiding other pirates, parrots and booby trapped treasure. If you remembered this rather classic pirate themed game, will be pleased to know that as of today you can download the latest version of 'Looty'; An Amiga game as an inspiration to that classic game of Booty.

Twenty Four Hour Parsley People and Devwill Too ZX were not the only games worth mentioning, as recently Kees van Oss and Leonardo Vettori contacted us, to let us know of a new game they are working on called Metamorphosis. This game that's being developed for the ZX Spectrum, is a rather interesting game, as from the look of the video below, is set in an alien like world, with creatures to eat, other enemies to fight and drops from the ceiling that are very toxic for the player.

Most of the time Indie Retro News gets the news out early so as many people as possible don't miss out in the retro community. One such game that took us completely by surprise and we were late to talk about, was this fabulous Ultimate Play the Game tribute called 'Mire Mare'; a tribute from the creator of Land of Mire Mare which was included as a perk for the KS campaign "The Story of ZX Spectrum in Pixels" book by Chris Wilkins, and distributed in a free downloadable version in the AGD Forum by Luca Bordoni.
