LIPEMCO! Translations is proud to present a complete English translation of Madou Monogatari Ⅰ: Honoo no Sotsuenji (Sorcery Saga Ⅰ: The Fiery Kindergarten Graduation) for the PC-Engine CD!
Sorcery Kindergarten has very strict requirements for graduation. Indeed, this year, only one person even qualified to take the final exam at all: six-year-old Arle Nadja, who now faces the daunting task of climbing the monster-infested Magic Tower and retrieving the three Magic Orbs hidden within in order to graduate. What trials await Arle inside the Tower? Can she pass the test, or will she be doomed to another year of kindergarten?
Madou Monogatari Ⅰ is a 1996 dungeon crawler for the PC-Engine Super CD-ROM² system. It’s a remake of the first game in the Madou Monogatari series, originally developed by Compile for the MSX2 computer and subsequently ported to several other platforms. The various ports differ wildly from each other, sometimes to the point of being almost completely different games; though the PC-Engine version is based on the original home computer editions, it adds high-quality cutscenes, CD audio, near-full voice acting, and many extra events, monsters, and items.
Released in limited quantities at the very, very end of the PC-Engine’s lifespan, the game is somewhat notorious for its rarity, often fetching the equivalent of $400+ in Japanese auctions on the rare occasion it’s sold at all. It’s also one of a very small number of games to require the use of the Arcade Card RAM expansion peripheral.
This patch fully translates the game into English. In addition to translating the text, it also adds subtitles to all voice-only cutscenes.
This project was the work of LIPEMCO! Translations: Supper (hacking), TheMajinZenki (translation), cccmar (editing and testing), and Xanathis (testing). The same group has also produced translations for several other games in the series, including Madou Monogatari II and Madou Monogatari III for the Game Gear, as well as the Mega Drive version of this game, which despite sharing the title has drastically different content.
The authors hope you’ll enjoy this rare and unusual game!

A long time ago Hewson Consultants made great games for old retro computers such as the fantastic Uridium, Paradroid, Cybernoid, Exolon, Nebulus and many more were just some of the games they released that many of us have played and enjoyed. Well if you loved playing Uridium and want to see what the original game would look like developed by a fan using Unreal Engine 4, then you might want to check out this remake of the 8bit classic, as it looks spectacular!

Dizzy is back! Well almost, and he's almost back in 8-bit form and a format he is very familiar with - the ZX Spectrum. The last official Spectrum release for everyone's favorite egg was way back in 1992 in Crystal Kingdom Dizzy. A remake followed 25 years later which was released in 2017. As great as it was, a completely new game is what fans have been waiting for. As far as waits go, 28 years is a pretty long one so it's about time we got one, right? Well, that long long wait is nearly over, my excellent friends! I'm not one to make lots of easy egg jokes (honest) so don't expect to read any is this preview, ok?

It was some time ago now that we mentioned Jonathan Woods 'Parallaxian'; A stunning "next generation" shoot-em-up-bomb-em-up game for the Commodore 64, which sadly at the time never reach its £12,500 goal, even though it did reach a half way point. Well fast forward to this month however and if you were still keen to play this game, will be pleased to know the creator has launched a promo page, a page which gives us an extra glimpse at this stunning new game in development for the Commodore 64 and The C64 and, in native mode, for the Commodore 128.

The Amiga news still isn't done with us yet, as after featuring games such as Scourge of the Underkind, and Super Metal Hero, here comes another Doom clone announcement update to keep you company. If you remember our previous article regarding the work in progress project by KK/Altair to bring Dread to the Amiga 500, which is a clone of DOOM. Then as of these last few months the creator has done another video tease but this time showing us The Intro, Menu and More.

Although the game doesn't yet have a release date, this demo gives us an early glimpse of the game including a number of levels you can play through as a teaser to the full game.

We try to feature as many old computers and consoles as possible, although our primary write ups revolve around the C64 and the like, sometimes there's a game development that catches our eye on a system we hardly ever feature. This is especially true of this latest news announcement, as if you've got a TI-99/4A which is a Texas Instruments Computer, you'll need to keep an eye on Rasmus Moustgaard's Raycaster Game Engine, as it's looking mighty impressive indeed.

During 2016 and into 2017 Wayne Ashworth and Magnus had been developing a new game called ' Scourge of the Underkind ' for 1 Meg OCS Amiga's and above. It was shown off many times as a rather wicked looking top down arcade action game with coin and key collection that is very similar to that classic game Chaos Engine. Well after a number of developments that have been noted via the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, we are here to reveal with an exclusive video, just how incredible the game looks thus far including new features.

While many of us are still waiting for the upcoming action platformer called Outrage which is soon to be released by Protovision, there's another game that might also be worth keeping an eye on although not to be released any time soon, and that's Marv's C64 game of 'Zombie Island'. This game which was recently mentioned on Twitter, is a very decent looking blaster that as of this moment is not only just a concept but also as some have picked up on could be inspired by the sprite from First Samurai.

Over the years there's certainly been a surge in home made cases and internal changes to bring the Raspberry Pi into an almost seamless look giving us the impression we are playing on an old console. This all fused together with so many games through Pi Retro Emulation that no original console or games are needed. I mean seriously, if you didn't want a NES or SNES mini, you could buy a tiny NES case, bang a Raspberry Pi inside, add a few extra parts, install someone software, thousands of roms and you have your own emulation station running through a HDMI TV!

We've certainly seen some impressive projects through the years on retro hardware, for example showing how well Sam's Journey and Super Mario performed on a C64 was impressive enough. But now it looks as if we are about to go one step further. As thanks to a heads up from a good friend of ours on Twitter, we have seen an incredible demake of Doom running on the Pico-8 by the name of 'POOM'
