Even though we've featured a number of Amstrad games these last few months, there's another game you might be interested in and again a port of a classic Arcade title and that's the upcoming Amstrad game 'Alcon 2020 ' developed by Abalore. Now if you've ever played Alcon in the Arcades or as it was known on the 8bit machines as Slap Fight, the developer is hoping this version will be more like the Arcades and not the 8bit version released in the late 80's... Although that was still a great game to play!

Throughout 2018 and into 2019 we were constantly banging on the drums about the fabulous C64 game 'L'abbaye Des Morts', which was developed by Antonio Savona, with graphics, music, sfx by Saul Cross and Gryzor, with full permission of Locomalito. Well fast forward to today and boy do we have some great news if you have Atari however! As if you've played this version on the C64 or any other system it was ported to, will be overjoyed to learn a high quality conversion has been released on the Atari Falcon.

Oyup! Is a falling blocks puzzle game designed for 1 or 2 players, and is a clone of the hugely successful Japanese SEGA arcade game Puyo Puyo, which was released in the west as Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine in 1993 for Megadrive, Master System and in 1994 on the Game Gear. Developer Nick Sherman will release the game on his “Arlasoft” itch.io page today - and will probably be available to download as you read this. He has also entered the game into Winter Games Development Competition 2020 - A game compo hosted by Retro Games LTD for C64 and VIC20.

Oyup! wasn't the only Arcade game released for the C64 this week, as thanks to Saberman who kindly gave us the nudge this morning, we know now that Monte Boyd has released his new game for the C64 called Monster Catcher. As in the words of the developer : Monster Catcher is a fast action, single player game for the Commodore 64! If you like Rodland, Bubble Bobble, and a little bit of Smash TV then you’ll love Monster Catcher!

If your C64 is feeling the need for even more games, then we've just been told by a good friend of ours, that a new game has been released that should bring even more excitement to C64 users across the globe. It's Chiller 2 by Andy! This new game released just recently, is a rather cool looking game that is based on the classic of 'Chiller': a game that was released way back in 1984 by MasterTronic featuring multi-level, multi-screened platforms through 10 levels created by The Darling Brother's.

We haven't featured many Atari 2600 products this year, even though we have featured a number of Atari 2600 to C64 ports, so to change all that here's a new game from Mick Muze that's purchasable through AtariAge, it's Deepstone Catacomb; a brand new Atari 2600 release whereby you must save Princess Robyn from the clutches of the evil Dark Lord Kram and his army of Undead Soldiers deep within the very dark underworld of the Catacombs.

There are so many C64 games released each year that we’ve decided to create awards and categories - Think the OSCARS for C64! So as well as C64 Game of the Year, we will also be giving awards for C64 Genius of the Year for the most inspired idea that led to an amazing C64 game. As well as C64 Budget Game of the Year: which must cost £3.99 or less. This year the nominations have been picked by Indie Retro News' Neil Green and Andrew "hayesmaker64" Hayes.

He's been in eggs-ile for quite some time but now, finally, FINALLY he's back! It's a brand new adventure, new story, new eggs, new characters and a cute little fluffle has been thrown back in too. (Not enough Pogie in this world if you ask me). He's also back in wonderful world of 8-bit, full of glorious Spectrum colour and a quite stunning looking (and sounding) world for us to enjoy, explore and get us grinning again. Just what the world needs now if you ask me!

Santa Factory is the legendary workshop where Santa Claus is said to make the toys and presents given out at Christmas. December is a busy month in this factory, elves have to pack all the presents before the eve night.
In this game you play as an elf controlling a packing line. You have a list of wishes and you have to combine the desired toys according to it. You are allowed to make some wrong packs (after all “do not look a gift horse in the mouth”), but too many mistakes and Xmas could be ruined.++

CPCEC / ZXSEC (2020/12/12) is released. CPCEC is an emulator of the family of home microcomputers Amstrad CPC (models 464, 664 and 6128) whose goal is to be loyal to the original hardware and efficient in standard modern systems. Thus it brings a faithful emulation of the Z80 microprocessor and it replicates the behavior of the CRTC 6845 and Gate Array video chips, the PSG AY-3-8912 sound chip, the remaining circuits found in the original hardware, and the tape deck and floppy disc drive that made possible loading and running software. ZXSEC is an emulator of the Sinclair Spectrum family (48k, 128k, +2/Plus2 and +3/Plus3) based on the components it shared with the Amstrad CPC family: the Z80 microprocessor, the PSG AY-3-8192 sound chip, the tape system and the NEC765 disc drive controller.

fMSX v5.9 is released. fMSX is a program that emulates MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8bit home computers. It runs MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ software on many different platforms including Windows, Android, Symbian, MacOS, Unix, MSDOS, AmigaOS, etc. I started developing fMSX in 1993 when there were only two other MSX emulators available, both exclusively for MSDOS. From the very beginning, I developed fMSX as a portable program able to run on many different computers. The initial development, for example, was done on DEC Alpha workstations running Unix. Since then, fMSX has seen quite a lot of updates and been ported to many systems. It is still being developed, although not as actively as before because most features are pretty much complete now.
fMSX v5.9 Changelog:
Added simple CPU-based linear scaling algorithm.
Added -linear command line option.
Added drag'n'drop files functionality to fMSX-Windows.
Fixed fMSX-Windows loading disk and tape files on click.
