Hi All,
The Ur-Quan Masters, sometimes referred to as UQM, is a port of Star Control II for modern personal computers
and operating systems from the original 3DO source code released to the fan community by Toys For Bob in August 2002.
See http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ for details.
After minor changes here is a port on pandora of the linux version v0.6.2
(i didn't take gp2x version, because i found it once my quick port was already done).
I haven't changed any key bindings, but you can always modify existing one with
a keys.cfg file in pandora/appdata/..../keys.cfg.
I've tested the LAN game mode, and it seems to work properly.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read doc files for more information about it.
UQM for pandora
Enjoy,
Zx.

mic_ has posted an entry in the Neoflash 2010 Coding Contest:
Heres the full details posted:
Updated version
Nickname: mic
Project name: Hunter
From: Sweden
Division: Retro APP
Platform: PC-E
Original enter: YES
Support Motion: NO(?)
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10: NO
Project description:
It plays NSFs on the TurboGrafx / PC-Engine. NSF is the format used for ripping soundtracks from NES / Famicom games.
How to use:
Creating the player ROM
-----------------------
Start rombuilder.exe. Drag the NSF files to the top listbox, then press "Build". A ROM
named hunter.pce will be generated in the same directory as the rombuilder.
Only up to 15 NSFs will be added to the ROM.
Each NSF must be <= 32 kB in size.
Some NSFs will not play correctly (or at all) even if they were added successfully by the
rombuilder. This might be because they rely on some feature not supported by my player.
Some examples of NSFs that will not play correctly are Metroid, Rygar, Star Force and Rush'n Attack.
DMC is not supported, and will simply not be heard. No extra sound hardware is supported either
(such as FDS, MMC5 or N106).
Using the player
----------------
Run the generated hunter.pce file in an emulator (like mednafen), or on your TurboGrafx / PC-E.
[Up/Down] navigates through the NSF list.
[Left/Right] navigates through the sub-songs of the currently playing NSF.
[II] starts playback of the highlighted NSF/song.
[ I] restarts playback of the currently playing NSF/song.
[Select] toggles volume overdrive mode. When active, it boosts the volume of the square wave and noise
channels, which can be useful for soundtracks that have low volumes (like Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear,
Silver Surfer, etc).
[Run] toggles the playback speed. If the NSF's original speed is NTSC it will switch to PAL, and vice
versa.

Hi All,
X-Pilot is one of the most famous Multiplayer online space action game, started in 1991 (good old time ).
See http://www.xpilot.org/ for more details about authors, manual etc ...
After minor changes and one day spent to fix a nauty bug in the polygon render code,
i'm pleased to announce a port on pandora of the X-Pilot NG version v4.7.3.
I haven't changed any key bindings, but you can always modify existing one using xmodmap file ...
A x-pilot-ng server is included in the pnd file if you want to play alone,
or you can play on internet servers with other players.
On startup you will be asked to launch the server or not, and the first time you should
enter your gamer pseudo.
If you want to put this game in fullscreen mode, you need to use
"Alt+Space -> Fullscreen" one the game is started.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read doc files for more information about it.

If you haven’t heard of Uwol, Quest For Money by the legendary Speccy coders The Mojon Twins then you should quickly check out the original ZX Spectrum version, which we reported on here and the subsequent Mega Drive / Genesis port, developed by Shiru, which we reported here. Done? Then it’s time to check out The Mojons’ rather spiffy looking Commodore 64 version, which can be found on their website, along with instructions, cover art, etc.

Hello,
i would like to show you a "homebrew" OS called AROS (former Amiga Research Operating system).
Well you may ask: "what has it to with our network?" well it is the base os of my systems. One system to come is a MediaCenter system and it can act as a gaming system too.
AROS is a is a free and open source implementation of the AmigaOS 3.1 APIs which runs on PPC and x86. Native or hosted on Linux/Windows.
We are also working on an App store for the 3 amiganoid os like AROS/AmigaOS 4.x and MorphOS. This app-browser will be integrated also in AMC.
AROS and AMC can boot (depending on the HW used in 3Seconds. 7 until AMC is booted up.
I hope to attcract some creative people from the homebrew scene too. And with AMC equiped systems we can offer another "open" gaming/multimedia system.
If you are interested you can visit www.aros-exec.org (aros community)
www.aros.org (official AROS website)
To have a look at AMC you can visit my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/AresComputer1#p/a
Some bits about my person:
http://obligement.free.fr/articles_t...wpapara_en.php
Ohhh i fogot to say that you can try AROS in Virtualbox.
It exists two free liveCD/DVD distributions.
The full featured IcAROS desktop
http://vmwaros.blogspot.com/
and my new attempt
www.aros-broadway.de
Best Regards,
Pascal
One thing left: I startet two contests:
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/v...forumpost45103
and a name search contest:
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/v...forumpost45435
The price for the MediaCenter system will be below 250€ maybe 199. A multiboot like AROS/Ubuntu/Windows is no problem.
As i told i see it as possible homebrew gaming platform like pandora (hardware is open, because it is based on normal PC-hardware) only AMC will cost a bit (around 20€).
ONE LAST THING : )
There is not only my AresOne but also the iMica available including a how to "build your own iMica"

Hi All,
OpenSonic is a free open-source game based on the "Sonic the Hedgehog" universe.
It introduces a different style of gameplay called cooperative play, in which it's possible to control 3 characters simultaneously.
See http://opensnc.sourceforge.net/home/index.php for more details about it.
Thanks to Hitnrun who ported allegro to pandora, i've been abled to modify
a bit OpenSonic (mainly to get a fullscreen and to add frame skip option) and run it on my pandora.
It might be good to overclock a bit for better performances.
Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public licence,
read license files for more information about it.

Enjoy,
Zx.
PS: This port is dedicated to my son Alex ...

In 2005, there were 44 licensed video game arcades in New York, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs; today, 23 survive. With the expansion of interactive online gaming, video game action has largely shifted to the home. 'Arcades are an anachronism now,' says Danny Frank, a spokesman for the Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York. 'They exist only in shopping malls.' But Chinatown Fair has become a center for all the outcasts in the city to bond over their shared love for a good 20-punch combo and "old school" games that more popular arcades don't stock anymore — the classic Street Fighter II from 1991 and King of Fighters 1996, for example, as well as Ms Pac-Man and Time Crisis. 'Now, you can play a million people from all around the world,' says one player. 'For me, it's not the same as playing face-to-face. The young'uns may not care, but I do
