A new super-sized twist on the Pac-Man franchise has just hit the web.
As detailed on Gamasutra, The World's Biggest Pac-Man is a new, free-to-play browser version of the game with a focus on user-created levels.
Developed by Australian web specialist Soap Creative in tandem with Namco Bandai and Microsoft, it allows users to make their own levels via a Facebook application.
The individual levels are then jigsawed together into one enormous maze with screen exits offering access to new stages rather than looping Pac-Man round to the other side of the screen in traditional fashion.
You'll need to have a Facebook account to make your own levels, but you can play the game through your browser via its dedicated webpage.
At the time of writing there are 2165 different screens – with that number going up fast.
The game was created as a promotion for Microsoft's new Internet Explorer 9 set-up, but should work fine on any browser running HTML5 or above.
"We are giving the world one of its favorite video games through the browser, in a fun and engaging way that truly showcases how developers can deliver a new class of web experiences by taking advantage of modern web standards and hardware acceleration," commented developer Michael Kordahi.
