A new web player is to be used by the US Air Force to bring Unreal Engine 3 content to web browsers used by this high-flying arm of the military.In an announcement today, it was revealed that the Air Force has approved the use of a proprietary web player, developed by the Virtual Heroes Division research and engineering service, for training purposes.“Placing the ARA UE3 Web Player on the Air Force Evaluated/Approved Products List opens up a wide range of immersive training opportunities,” said the division’s manager, Randy Brown. “Now Air Force organizations can deliver Unreal Engine-based, real-time training packages on the Air Force network through a simple browser connection. The exciting thing is that this content can be developed by anyone using Epic’s Unreal Development Kit or UE3.”For aspiring USAF recruits, it may mean all that time spent playing Ace Combat may not have been in vain after all.
