EA strikes exclusive deal to develop ‘core’ Star Wars games

EA has signed a multi-year deal with Disney to exclusively develop new Star Wars games.The new titles will be aimed at a core audience, and EA has already confirmed that Battlefield developer DICE and Dead Space studio Visceral Games will be working on new Star Wars titles. The Walt Disney Company has retained the rights to developer social, mobile and browser games.EA Labels president Frank Gibeau added that “the new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”Disney recently closed Star Wars studio LucasArts, having acquired the developer as part of the deal which saw the media giant buy up LucasFilm last year.
